Hope you’ve had a wonderful Thanksgiving, Modern Philosophers.
Things went just fine at The House on the Hill, and now I’m relaxing and remembering Thanksgivings Past. Whenever I take a trip down Memory Lane where it intersects with Family Road, I try to limit my Deep Thoughts to times with Dad. Those are the happiest moments from my childhood.
My Dad had a tradition for Thanksgiving and Christmas, which I love to keep alive. His idea of getting all fancy was serving pepperoni and cheese on crackers for the Holidays.
That’s just the kind of guy Dad was. That was how we classed up the joint and showed the relatives that we could be all sophisticated when we wanted.
My ex-wife, the food snob, never thought much of the tradition, but she accepted it because she knew it meant a lot to me to remember my Dad at the Holidays. …
