MODELING MONK’S BREAD?

A New York State Trappist monastery,

Supports itself by varied…

Breads and preserves

The proceeds go towards,

Keeping up this sanctuary!

Been thinking, since I have a friend

Who once thought he’d be Trappist at the end…

Married Chinese

The Lord they please,

The Lord to China them sent!

Christian industry

My layout could use, naturally…

Flour and sweet

Railcars  meet,

Blessing  a miniature economy!

SORRY TO BLOG AND SCRAM!

The nature of who I am,

So sorry to post and scram…

Wife want eating

Three meals completing,

I’l come back here if I can!

This blogs my poetry,

Finding mine is the key…

SEARCH:  “Caswell”–

Most are  revealed,

Written heroically!

As to the prompt–almost any–

Subject inspiring–many…

Three or four styles

Bring you smiles,

A Christian blog not like any?

–Jonathan Caswell

GREAT WEEKEND NEWS!

THE COFFEE MACHINE..is working,

An engineer left, smirking…

I used to drink

Two potfuls I think,

An empty machine is irking!

LAST NIGHTS LEFTOVER PIE!

Last night’s pepperoni pizza pie,

Folks didn’t eat much of (but why?)…

Offered to me

I accepted gladly,

With a handful of breadsticks beside!

Papa Gino’s provided the pie,

The heat index seemed high…

Good going down

With water around,

Almost brought tears to the eye!

Almost an entire large,

Took more than one meal discharged…

Lovely to eat

Because of the heat,

So glad they let me take charge.

TAKING ADVANTAGE…!

Advantages of frigid weather,

Doing food shopping all together…

Cold things won’t thaw–

It’s below zero after all—

So simple it’s not even clever!

SPICY SNACK AT 2 AM!

Came home from work and shopping,

Other than that–no reason for stopping…

some “Brown ans Serve”

He’s nibbling (the nerve!),

and gobbled all up in the offing!

NOBODY WANTED OUR POT–LUCK!

We took what I thought worth taking,

A soup of my own making…

Boiled cabbage and ham

But no thank you Ma’am,

Just me and the wife were taking.

Competition was rather strong,

Lasagna and casserole gone…

What little we ate

I’d consolidate

And use for suppers till gone!

I had someone’s lemon meringue,

Almost too sweet–no tang–

Along with ice cream

(And lasagna again!),

Enough food for the whole gang!

My wife left her pink NORTH  CREEK hat,

I’m rescuing stuff like that…

Everyone knows

Keeping track of clothes

Is anything but old hat!

GLAD I’M BROKE–SORT OF GLAD!

The days after Halloween,

Sales candy lovers’ dream…

Half-off and more

In any store,

Diabetics don’;t need these dreams!

GALUMPKI DINNER!

Apparently not all the same,

Galumpkis worthy of the name…

May be layered

with exquisite care,

Let’s trust it tastes “the same”!

Parboiled cabbage leaves

Surround meat and rice dutifully…

Ground meat

With rice complete

Adding spices beautifully!

some add tomato sauce,

Not as thick as spaghetti, of course…

Succulent juices

are never useless

Over mashed potato–starch source!

Reminds me of a youthful story,

cousin Suzie and I in our glory..

finished off a whole bowl

Of galumpki and potato,

Hungry teens–that’s my story!

THE BRITISH EAT MASHED PEAS

The British have fish and chips,

Newspaper-wrapped for drips…

Their specialties

Include mashed (or mushed) peas,

Instead of potato as chips?
