DESIGN CONUNDRUM

Ran into a tiny snag,

Or a way out of a paper bag…

Double track or twice -around

Both plans sound,

On either I could brag.

The old two by four feet pike,

Had a twice around I liked…

An oval outside

For long cars to ride,

As a display, it was nice.

Essentially not micros,

Normal  radius grows…

Longer train cars

Don’t overhang as far,

More space makes sense, I suppose!

But a “pizza” is a display round-and-round,

Small trains in circles are bound…

Simple-to-complex

One way to relax,

I hope I can “nail one down”!

WARM DAYS–ENOY THEM

Up here in the North East,

Autumn’s become a feast…

Of summer-like temps.

Foliage that tempts,

For a week at least!

I have a few days left,

To photo colors I think best…

A little green

Few dead branches seen,

But color on most of the rest.

And there are flowers to catch,

Before killing frost wrecks…

Color abounds

Perfumed air around,

The leaving of the last batch!

IF I WERE A PAINTER RENOWNED

If I were a painter renowned

I’d follow you all over town…

Sketching your lines

Offering times

When you and I should sit down.

I’d offer a generous contract,

Half of the proceeds get back…

I may sound flighty

But you are Aphrodite,

Please answer in the positive track!

I’d paint you all sorts of ways,

Critics will sing your praise…

If only allow

A portrait now,

But I’d paint you the rest of my days!

HAPPY VALENTINES’ DAY, DEAR

HAPPY VALENTINES’ DAY, DEAR!

A poet’s dear one wife,

With whom he embraces life…

Surely should know

He loves her so,

Despite the occasional strife.

Tired and sick–no matter–

He whips up his special batter…

Of cakes to eat

Just for his sweet,

Telling the truth–no flatter!

She REALLY puts up with me!

Both have each other to a “T”…

Covenant love

With Spirit dove,

Is the best way for you and me!

THE HERMIT EMERGES

THE HERMIT EMERGES

Out of the closet not,

He gave it special thought…

Wanted to join,

Hadn’t the coin

Someone gave him the shot!

Wasn’t used to being in crowds,

This one particularly loud…!

Laughter and joking

While he sat hoping

Somebody would soften the sound.

He hung in till the end,

Jealous of those with more friends…

But the Hermit’s unique–

He’ll rarely speak,

But whether he does—it depends.

NEW BIRCH BEGINNINGS

NEW BIRCH BEGINNINGS

Only God can make a tree,

Been years since painting one for me…

A cancellation

Brought participation,

A class for the elderly!

My worry was shaking hands,

Picture painting has  certain demands…

Lucky for me

A birch tree,

And its wiggly trunk still stands!

The instructor put a cardinal in mine,

On a snow-cover branch so fine…

And “fly specks” too

Of snow that flew,

We pictured it at wintertime.

ACRYLIC PAINTING PARTIES

ACRYLIC  PAINTING PARTIES

Acrylic paint smells okay,

As folks laugh and talk art display…

Lunar ripples

Mirror brush stipples,

The birds yet to appear today!

Photos taken of results

As two-hour effort exults…

Women and men

Proudly grin

And hang it above the couch.

Group picture before they go,

Artists their accomplishments show…

Instruction  resume

Was enriched today,

Seventeen for “Tell-and-Show.”
