NEW HEADER IMAGES:

The Poet’s gone searching again,

For winter scenery then…

GREEN MOUNTAIN’s Alcos—

He’d love to see those—

His favorite engine!

ALCO RS-1’s in the cold,

Working with heart although old…

Giving class

To a road short of cash,

That railroad’s survival they’re owed!

CHRISTMAS EVE–PLUS 35 MINUTES!

Roads are skating rinks,

The wife of safety thinks…

Stay home from church

And encourage,

Me in similar stakes!

So staying up to write,

At least part of this night…

Exhaustion

Will soon have won,

I’ll give up and  turn out my light!

(By the number of TYPOS, that may be soon!!!)

CHURCH ATTENDANCE–A HYPOTHETICAL POEM

He rarely attends now,

It’s gone and got diff’rent somehow…

He feels pushed aside

Not welcomed inside,

No one’s been direct with him, anyhow!

They used to go faithfully,

Found the spirit there strong and free…

The Pastor moved on

And a preacher took on

Things with his own personality.

With his circle of friends,

For our subject, being close to a pastor ends…

You know his pride

Didn’t like “outside”

But he wanted to attend.

Then he and his wife

Both saw ill health in life….

Comparison

With others is sin,

And churned up internal strife!

The preacher/teacher and he,

(Too much alike?) weren’t happy…

It shifted into

“An authority over you”

Which wasn’t as healthy!

Various dissatisfactions

Led to complaints and  feigned actions….

Poor communication

Led to frustration,

In mutual distraction.

So now he stays at home

Sundays, with his wife alone…

No need to go

Taken for granted so,

But he’s stuck–this was his church home.

Socially depended on her,

His wife, for communication stirred…

When she took ill

He didn’t have the will,

To see that his opening up occurred.

He’s given his life for her,

Literally as it were…

Goes it alone

Reaching out he’s done,

Elsewhere–little left at “home”.

Options to go elsewhere?

Feels bound by his wife–so there!

Decision paralyzed–

Easier to survive

By himself, ‘though few benefits to share!

A “hypothetical poem”–which means it is just a poem….!

TO ALL BELIEVERS OF ANY FAITH

It sounds controversial

For  a Christian to appeal…

To believers of all other gods

To lend their aid and deal…

With the human suffering

Of two major hurricanes

Families of many faiths

Enduring loss and pain!

Even if you have no god,

Please  think good thoughts to heal…

It’ll be a long time  till many folks

Return to an even keel;

This is what my Dad might have done

In his liberal theology…

Reaching out to all concerned

With no apology!

I’ m thinking of a special friend,

A blogger fresh and true…

Known as Holly Hunter

And other Floridians, too;

Her “House of Heart” is quiet till

She survives the storm….

I repeat my concern

For her a colleagues’ love is warm!

To our knees, lotus positions, or however you access the divine—for the sake all storm victims!

A LOT OF SCAMS OUT THERE!

Beware of all those scams,

And gods who claim they’re “I AM’s”…

Saying the bible

Isn’t so vital,

And all Christian service pans!

If one SAYS one is Christian but not,

One is liable for judgment “hot”…

Deceiving Man

Is the Devil’s plan,

Are you a part of his plot?

Other religions taking our cues,

Decide to help–that’s news!

The wrongs they claim

Are often their main

Modus operandi, too!

Rather than putting us down,

Rather help all work strong…

Bitter exchange

Is beyond the range,

Of charity work and is wrong!

Based upon observing the posts currently available in the Reader, and the author’s own sense of decency toward relief efforts (the way they should be !).  An Opinion Post.

THIS JUNE 3RD INSOMNIA

Twenty-eight years in a row,

Rarely (but sometimes) said “no”…

Learning lessons

By Spirit suggestions,

Bringing comfort when we were laid low.

Never easy to live

And share when we’re told to give…

It up for the other–

Why bother,

When together we face so much grief?

Bound by love we are,

Dealing with “crankies” just part…

Of total realm–

God at the helm—

When we trust Him that far.

Not instantly this “one flesh”,

Taking years learning to mesh…

If in the end

We are friends,

We praise God for His wisdom cached.

HAPPY 28TH ANNIVERSARY, HONEY–MY DIANA!

GENTLE WARRIOR!

(The Book of Genesis 32: 22-32)

Jacob renamed Israel,

Strove with the Lord’s Angel…

Up went the sun

Both had won,

As Israel’s hip pain would tell!

Wrestled all night with God,

Stubbornly living abroad…

Planted when

They were then,

God’s loving shoulders are broad.

The “Liar” became the “Winner”,

In faith so can all sinners…

Truly find cleansing

Relationship mending,

To break out of spiritual winters!

A new Creation was he,

The lying was gone you see…

In its place

Active holy grace,

The Angel brought him to his knees.

The Bible says he strove with God,

Not a man or a vision odd…

The pre-incarnate Christ

Before His birth night,

Was the Angel of God!

God striving with man,

Doesn’t flatten us although He certainly can…

But gives choice

Listening to His voice,

Instead of a absolute demand!

God wants love voluntary,

Not robotic or ancillary…

Jacob renamed

By the Most High Name,

Became a friend of God, not adversary.

(Caught from a recent WALK IN THE WORD Radio broadcast series)

EXPERIMENT’S OVER

He tried separating himself,

His work from the rest…

Expected lots to follow him

And pass his subtle test.

Alas and a lack,

Most stayed in the crowd…

Very few came over,

His ego broke and bowed!

Blog following prefers him here,

Amidst what he creates…

He finds noise and inconvenience dear

And his blog he celebrates!

NEEDS SAVING

Troubles keeping from sleep,

Oh what struggles to keep…

Time to let go

Before he sinks low,

He’ll be an exhausted heap!

Desperation comes,

The pinnacle of his sums…

Adding up fast

To disastrous blast,

Never ready for what comes!

His dad had a similar feat,

Struggling in his sleep…

Sat bolt upright:

“Lord–You take it, Alright?”

And fell into deep, peaceful sleep!

Obsession easily comes,

Will you stick to your guns…

Give it the Lord–

Peace then restored–

Doze off after a few “ho-hums”.

PAID THE PRICE ONCE–FOR ALL TIME!

Jeshua* paid the price

For all our sinful vice…

On the cross

Our sin was tossed

Far away–so nice!

But not for everyone

Jesus’ sacrifice was done…

Those who believe

In Him receive

What He hoped for everyone!

Too many skeptics browbeaten

By Evil through peers defeating…

Opening of eyes

To embrace Paradise,

Their salvation is fleeting.

Many blind claim to see,

Perhaps other deities…

There is ONE

By creating was done,

To Lord Jesus get down on your knees!

Why do fanatics destroy,

Monuments to our Saviour** boy?

Because they see

Destroy history,

Then for Christ it “can’t be employed”.

Even the very rocks

Shout of our Savior’s chops…

King of all kings

Heaven rings,

And never, no never stops!

–Jonathan Caswell

*Jeshua is the Hebrew version (more or less) of the name Jesus, which is Greek.

**Saviour…the European spelling of the title.  American spelling is “Savior”.
