CHURCH ATTENDANCE–A HYPOTHETICAL POEM

He rarely attends now,

It’s gone and got diff’rent somehow…

He feels pushed aside

Not welcomed inside,

No one’s been direct with him, anyhow!

They used to go faithfully,

Found the spirit there strong and free…

The Pastor moved on

And a preacher took on

Things with his own personality.

With his circle of friends,

For our subject, being close to a pastor ends…

You know his pride

Didn’t like “outside”

But he wanted to attend.

Then he and his wife

Both saw ill health in life….

Comparison

With others is sin,

And churned up internal strife!

The preacher/teacher and he,

(Too much alike?) weren’t happy…

It shifted into

“An authority over you”

Which wasn’t as healthy!

Various dissatisfactions

Led to complaints and  feigned actions….

Poor communication

Led to frustration,

In mutual distraction.

So now he stays at home

Sundays, with his wife alone…

No need to go

Taken for granted so,

But he’s stuck–this was his church home.

Socially depended on her,

His wife, for communication stirred…

When she took ill

He didn’t have the will,

To see that his opening up occurred.

He’s given his life for her,

Literally as it were…

Goes it alone

Reaching out he’s done,

Elsewhere–little left at “home”.

Options to go elsewhere?

Feels bound by his wife–so there!

Decision paralyzed–

Easier to survive

By himself, ‘though few benefits to share!

A “hypothetical poem”–which means it is just a poem….!

THEY JUST DISAPPEARED!!!

She swallowed my comments TWICE,

I don’t think that was NICE…

One-sided talk–

The other side stopped–

Is really a fascist  DEVICE!

Although–there is another blog–

In which my comments don’t log…

This might be a measure

To some comments treasure,

I keep my comments open–not demagogue!

They can do what they like,

I will not return a strike…

Nor delete

Any comments I meet,

Unless that is what they’d like!

A LOT OF SCAMS OUT THERE!

Beware of all those scams,

And gods who claim they’re “I AM’s”…

Saying the bible

Isn’t so vital,

And all Christian service pans!

If one SAYS one is Christian but not,

One is liable for judgment “hot”…

Deceiving Man

Is the Devil’s plan,

Are you a part of his plot?

Other religions taking our cues,

Decide to help–that’s news!

The wrongs they claim

Are often their main

Modus operandi, too!

Rather than putting us down,

Rather help all work strong…

Bitter exchange

Is beyond the range,

Of charity work and is wrong!

Based upon observing the posts currently available in the Reader, and the author’s own sense of decency toward relief efforts (the way they should be !).  An Opinion Post.

THE SOKAL EFFECT–FOOLISH?

This poem is based in part on a late night radio discussion related to the SOKAL AFFAIR…a literary hoax perpetrated in 1996, by Alan Sokal, a physics professor at New York University and University College London.  He essentially produced a “scholarly” paper, submitted and accepted by a peer review professional journal…that was essentially a total farce, with big words and phrases meaning nothing and saying nothing—and nobody caught it or the joke!—Information via WIKIPEDIA.

The program on late night radio was on the Buck Sexton Radio program, heard on WTAG, 580 AM AND 94.9 FM..(I-HEART Radio).  or at http://bucksexton.com/  Two other men tried a similar stunt…which was similarly unquestioningly received…even by a certain very recent former President.

Anyway…my opinion of these scholarly attempts to wake people up:

THE SOKAL EFFECT–WHO WAS FOOLISH?

Two academics decided,

The SOKAL AFFAIR, to retry it…

They thought the echelon

Would soon catch on,

To the foolish words and not buy it.

Alas, they were amazed,

When the stupid thing was praised…

No one claimed to see

Its tomfoolery,

And no objections were raised!

Alas, poor academia,

Write crap–you think it love–

“Goobledegook”

As truth they took,

On which none suspected of…!

The authors, on Buck Sexton’s show,

Said academia scored very low…

Feeding such junk

To students who sunk

Under such high=priced foolishness—low!

It troubles me that they tried,

With hopes of opening eyes…

Weren’t they aware

That complicity there,

Had already stagnified?

Embarrassing people is the same

As a liberal calling bad names…

Same vocabulary–

What eye opening–

Wasting time on trite little games?

Truth must come by force,

Changing hearts, not playing horse…

Christ had to die

Be sin crucified,

To change a human soul’s course!

If you sound just like their friend,

Why expect foolishness’ end…

Look act like one

You’re shot before begun,

No matter what you’d intend.

A dirty joke it was,

A lot of people “buzzed”…

Doesn’t help squat

If the whole lot,

Misses the point of the cause!

(for whatever good this is!)

EXPERIMENT’S OVER

He tried separating himself,

His work from the rest…

Expected lots to follow him

And pass his subtle test.

Alas and a lack,

Most stayed in the crowd…

Very few came over,

His ego broke and bowed!

Blog following prefers him here,

Amidst what he creates…

He finds noise and inconvenience dear

And his blog he celebrates!

HANGING TROPHIES

Back when they owned a home,

Their woods the homeowner roamed…

Found a large bra

Waiting for a thaw,

Hanging from a branch away from home.

Found a bag-full  ladies’ shoes,

And a PLAYGIRL Mag. well-used….

What evil lurks

In all human works,

What horrible things Man exumes!

–Jonathan Caswell

HE’S BA-A-A-A-CK!

He’s back to the hurly and burley,

Alone with his thoughts going squirrelly…

Kind folk did

Come to where he hid,

But retirement was too early!

He won’t go away,

Unless the Rapture’s today!

He misses the crowd

And shouting out loud,

To let folks hear what he’ll say!

Great cheers to the eighteen or so,

Visiting a blog readership low…

He’ll keep you informed–

His heart truly warmed–

For support you chose  to bestow.

Broken promises forgotten,

Being put off felt rotten…

Of you very few

I’m beholden to you,

For in compassion you were stopping!

DO FAIRIES GET HOT AND BOTHERED?

He’s not trying to suggest crime,

Just-how do they spend their time…?

Mystic immortal

Or flung through a portal,

Do they go through a nesting time?

Far be it for him to flutter

innuendo and peanut butter…

Female in form

But how are they born,

Please be patient, I’m  trying not to stutter!

Fairies mature and mild,

When give opportunity…

Will they choose adult pursuits

Or Ring Around the Rosie?

Fascinating these questions all,

A topic to discuss…

They are after all–

Just a little like us!

–Jonathan Caswell

A SPRITE WHISPERED

A SPRITE…whispered in my ear,

Where have our people gone….

Something called “Democracy”

They claim has gone terribly wrong!

They ignore us despite our cries,

They say the winner’s wrong…

They look at us with evil eyes

No more to sing our songs?

They claim all the voters are

taken by a plot…

They’re not happy with the choice

that the people got?

Even sprites and fairies know

That corruption is evil…

but will these former friends see that—

Maybe they never will!

I guess like Puff the Dragon,

Who lived by the sea….

these spoiled children are no friends

Of folks thinking positively!

How we miss our friends who were

filled with love who now hate…

When will they stop this foolish quest

and come to us and celebrate?

Poet and friendly to fairies in general.  😀

UNLIKELY TO BE LOVING YOU

(Fictional)

Unlikely to love you,

Although He’s tempted to…

You fill his eyes

with love disguised,

The problem is–it’s mot true!

Your loveliness holds him fast,

Professing love you’d be the last…

Earnestly seeking

The handsome man peeking,

With this one it’s a task!

He rips apart his love,

Tearfully leaving his dove…

Who cares not for him

In ambition,

She pushes him with her shove.

Beauty becomes a bane,

Left for the vain…

He finds a girl

who with him will curl

and never looks back but in pain.
