MEMORIAL HAIKU

(NOTE: Each three line poem is a haiku)

Flowers, flags on graves

Veterans recognized  again

The bugle echoes

People watch them march

Few remember what they do

History dying!

Viet Nam veterans

Are acceptable marching….

Many too far gone!

Old guys dying soon,

“The greatest generation”…

(Tom Brokaw said so.).

Picnics in the rain,

Rain-steamed hot dogs a delight…

Of city cousins!

All the battles fought,

Soldiers faced severe onslaught…

Some did not come home!

Europe remembers

The sacrifice we forgot!

(Poor education).

Bugles echo “Taps”,

Stand at attention for them

Who did sacrifice!

Faith is not dead here,

We forget…freedoms are lost…

Must resist…and win!

HIGH SUGAR HAIKU

(From one who is!)

Snacking all day-long

Doesn’t give time for sugar

To metabolize!

Sugar is too high

Is there a bad infection

Or is it from stress?

Sweating–hunger–thirt

Symptoms…things that I’ve observed…

Tell me this is true.

I binge eat too much

Having few other pleasures

Those slipping away!

Blood sugar levels

Diet, feelings and deep stress,

Affects all of me!

“MID-MARCH HAIKU”

MID-MARCH HAIKU

Making quite a ruckus,

A rowdy bull frog caucus…

Politics aside!

Mulched and seeded ground,

Parking stones set and put down…

All done the plowing?

Shovel in my car,

Rarely used in snow thus far…

One more chance to be!

Roadside wild turkeys,

Next to the highway eat nuts…

Wildlife invasion!

Coyotes and wolves,

Nature has its driving force…

Pets keep in at night!

PRE-CHRISTMAS HAIKU

PRE-CHRISTMAS HAIKU

Christmas shopping lasts

Through Christmas at every sale

Great sales in August!

Hungrier each minute

See a cook pot–what’s in it?

EW–slimy fish  worms!

Green Christmas forecast,

Not time yet for winter blast…

How ’bout white spray paint?

Pickings very thin,

Bonus check  kept them afloat…

Gift lists shorter still!

In America,

Children dream of many things…

How many come true?

Sleigh bells vibrating,

For deep snow they are waiting…

Bicycle wheels on?

No children at all,

Our celebration is small…

Christ comes in the flesh!!!

God to man did come,

Through Mary the bless-ed one…

Defenseless baby!

Wise men followed stars,

Herod’s hatred bore him scars….

Tricked, he killed them all!

Festive parties run

Glitter edifies no one…

Believe and choose God!

When all is silent,

Reflect on Jesus being…

Born to live, then die!

HONKIE HAIKU

HONKIE HAIKU

(i’S A WHITE FOLK!)

His poor heart is crushed

She doesn’t say much when rushed….

His chances are mush!

–J.E.C. (Author initials to separate haiku)

“SLINGING SLANG”

Hispanic…gringo,

Nipponese…round eyes,

On the streets…HEY, YOU!

–J.E.C.

WHEN NOT FUN (HAIKU)

WHEN NOT FUN  (HAIKU)

Time slows to snail’s pace

Unhappy moon hides its face

Darkness rules the night.

Coffee–no sugar–

Likes taste, or is penance?

For wrong decisions?

Minimal re-blogs,

So folks see more of his own…

All new works take time!

–Jonathan Caswell

HAIKU D’ART

HAIKU D’ART

(Haikus about art)

Acrylics copied

Instruction bringing out joy

Frolicking two hours

One man in the lot,

Estrogen power at work…

Laughter contagion!

Plastic on tables,

Colors put on art canvas…

Smocks and aprons clean!

Many volunteers,

Short work–room restoration–

Lights out at day’s end
