I HEARD THE LORD…

I heard the Lord call my name,

But I pulled back in horror and shame….

He mustn’t see

My humanity,

Because I’ll be blamed!

The Lord then said to me,

Believe Christ’s Deity….

Put Christ on–

Your sin is gone–

Then you can appear before ME.

Christ who lives in you,

By His Spirit shines through…

Stay under His wings

And endure all things,

God’s throne room’s wide open to you!

DAY-BY-DAY GOD LEADS

After the Child was born,

Joseph was duly warned….

Warned in a dream

Of Herod’s blood scheme,

Traveling far from harm!

Believers today face the same,

Sudden deliverance named…

Listen each day

Finding the way,

Keeping their new faith from harm!

As Joseph, so should we,

Do what’s necessary…

Shielding one’s faith

Moving where it’s safe

Escaping Herod’s fury.

Then when The time is right,

Let Christ within you shine bright…

Obedience true

Is up to you,

If Christ would be your light!

OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS

True gentlemen know what’s there,

but politely don’t stare…

A lower view

Is tempting, true,

Maybe the lovely doesn’t care?

These days whatever you say,

Often is taken wrong way…

Hardly yet gross

An alluring post,

Is a dressmaker’s good payday!

Gentlemen watch and learn,

Don’t let curiosity burn…

Research in private

What should be inviolate,

A woman’s respect is earned!

–Jonathan Caswell

ACCEPT NO IMITATIONS!

All kinds of stories about Him,

Major magazines by their whim…

Pile up “facts”

From historical “acts”

Pushing faith so thin.

Glorious videotography,

Impressing the simple like me…

Easily swayed

With not much aid,

Cast doubt on Jesus’ deity!

“Christian scholars” are used,

In programs where faith is disabused…

Faith in God’s word

Portrayed as absurd,

Is implied and accused.

Subtle persuasion proceeds,

knocking support from God’s deeds…

Historical’s fine

But draw the line,

Or your Accuser succeeds!’-

I’ve heard the insults of men,

And arguments of religion…

That cunningly catch

Your faith dispatch,

Woo you to legalism!

Stand firm even to stand,

Don’t be deceived even then…

Christ is your King

Give God everything,

Don’t stay submerged in you sin.

–Jonathan Caswell

ENIGMA WITHIN FAITH

Enigma within Christian faith,

Keeping “short accounts” being safe…

Living holy lives

By spiritual eyes,

Not the purview of apes!

Self effort has nil effect,

But the One Way through Christ accept…

To each other confess–

Pray to God, He’ll address–

But self pride for confession God rejects.

Security through faith, says Paul,

When law is removed Christ is all…

Act by Christ’s love–

God’s hand in your glove–

Walking more and more by Spirit’s call.

Spend much more time with Father, Son,

Live in the Spirit–three in One…

Bible study and frequent prayer

The tools to travel there,

To live in grace, “Thy will be done!”

–Jonathan Caswell

FRAMING SPIRITUAL TRUTHS

At one time I was caught

In dispensationalist thought…

Spiritual signs

Were for certain times,

And for the present–just rot!

The charismatic crowd,

Would shout “tongues” aloud…

Spiritual gifts

Were not “ifs”,

But some One in the air!

Mainline churches, alas,

Run from the spirit really fast…

Unequivocally

The hierarchy,

Short shrift those sections till passed.

Pentecostals pray,

In tongues every Sunday…

Loudly they cry

To God on high,

And whenever they pray!

In some denominations,

Doctrine’s in confusion…

General behooval

Of passage removal,

Not wanting any exclusion.

Then there are Bible-believing,

Determined to seek the receiving…

Of God’s Spirit

 Power  to visit,

Upon their witness  and healing!

Many TV preachers,

Have tongues as regular features…

Spiritual gifts

Are vital lifts,,

To we spiritually-enlivened creatures!

Among us folks disagree

In varied possibilities…

But the Spirit we prize

As seen through God’s eyes,

Available to God’s opportunities!

–Jonathan Caswell

DON’T WORRY–TRUST THE LORD GOD!

Oh Soul, why do you fear?

The Lord, your Savior is near…

Encouraging with

His word you shall live,

What the Spirit says through His Bible…do you hear?

–Jonathan Caswell

THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS!

Happy “CHANUCKAH” to you,

Blessing for you if a Jew…

Brave Maccabees

Trusted God Who Sees,

Eight days the prepared oil made it through!

A miracle celebrated by fun,

Only enough oil for one…

Day’s worth burning

Their hearts were yearning

To glorify God–that was done!

The Greeks had fouled the Temple,

Maccabees cleansing their nation’s symbol…

One days-worth prepared

In newly sanctified air,

The answer to God was so simple!

Like in 2nd Kings 4,

The Lord merely added more…

The God of all Creation

Did His own demonstration,

That Israel’s calling was sure!

So a Chanucka (Hanukkah) song,

We joyfully sing all day long…

God in his Heaven

Provides the other seven

Days of oil that the Jews to Him belong!

OVER HILL AND INTO DALE…

(a GOOGLE IMAGE)

Via local channels,

Little plots sprout solar panels…

Habitat

Is gone like that,

In woodland creature annals!

Every old gravel pit

And lots of the newer ones fit…

Being filled with arrays

To catch sun rays,

For energy profit.

Producing energy costs,

Much higher the birds lost…

Killed by spinning

Blades thinning,

Out enormous flocks!

But who needs all that dead wood,

Just “trash”–no good–

People vote

The almighty volt,

But never have understood.

–Jonathan Caswell

(An opinion piece)

BEWARE THE CRITICAL SPIRIT…….NUMBERS 12 (BIBLE)

According to ‘WALK IN THE WORD”.

Miriam was most disturbed…

By Moses’ new marriage

That she disparaged,

Before getting to her deepest hurt.

In the original language used,

The female form was used…

Spoke a woman

Miriam,

Who felt most abused!

Said God–come here you three–

I’ll tell who is closest to Me…

Moses most humble

But ’bout Me you grumble,

Miriam’s tagged leprosy.

Seven days outside the camp,

Moses kept her from the damp…

Changed attitude

When God’s way viewed,

Healed–she came back, no cramp!

More recently, one fell to grumbling

Under his breath–not humbling–

What will God do

The dense to break through,

Or allow in his way some stumbling?

Grumbling under the breath,

In the Desert…was kiss of death…

But for God’s mercy

Miriam cutseyed,

And came back in perfect health!
