PRAISE GOD MOST HIGH FOR ANSWERED PRAYER

Praise to you, God Most High,

For hearing prayer on the fly…

And your delight

Being quiet in your Sight,

Bringing us into your Light.

You would talk with us,

Yet we put up the fuss…

Ne’er slowing down

Nor coming around,

In ways that are not just!

Walking with your children in gardens,

Seeing our eyes at Thee widen…

drying our tears

and calming our fears,

Joy at mutual abiding!

We don’t model for kids,

the closeness and joy you give…

But stay away–

Asking others pray–

Misunderstanding God’s writ.

Pray for me, said like Simon,*

The sorcerer on his own ladder climbing…

Unwilling to claim

Given to him in God’s name,

What Christ, without his help, did buy for him!

–Jonathan Caswell

  •  Simon the Sorcerer…see  The Book of the Acts of the Apostles (or  simply…”ACTS”)  8:9-24.

DAY-BY-DAY GOD LEADS

After the Child was born,

Joseph was duly warned….

Warned in a dream

Of Herod’s blood scheme,

Traveling far from harm!

Believers today face the same,

Sudden deliverance named…

Listen each day

Finding the way,

Keeping their new faith from harm!

As Joseph, so should we,

Do what’s necessary…

Shielding one’s faith

Moving where it’s safe

Escaping Herod’s fury.

Then when The time is right,

Let Christ within you shine bright…

Obedience true

Is up to you,

If Christ would be your light!

–Jonathan Caswell

LUKE 17: 11-19–INGRATITUDE*

Ten lepers to Jesus went,

He healed them and sent..

All to the priest

Showing their release,

Only one returned, knee bent!

Of the ten only one,

Returned–a Samaritan–

In gratitude

His Savior viewed,

The nine–why didn’t they come?

Only one in awe,

Returned with thanks without flaw…

Nine without thought

No thanks thought they ought,

To express to the One that took it all!

Thinking of myself,

Many “thank you’s” never leave my card shelf…

Taken for granted

People feel unwanted,

Don’t think so much of yourself!

* Idea based on YOUR MOVE, with Andy Stanley, broadcast this morning (Sunday) on DAYSTAR TV.  Check out http://yourmove.is/   Sermon Title:  I OWE WHO?

ACCEPT NO IMITATIONS!

All kinds of stories about Him,

Major magazines by their whim…

Pile up “facts”

From historical “acts”

Pushing faith so thin.

Glorious videotography,

Impressing the simple like me…

Easily swayed

With not much aid,

Cast doubt on Jesus’ deity!

“Christian scholars” are used,

In programs where faith is disabused…

Faith in God’s word

Portrayed as absurd,

Is implied and accused.

Subtle persuasion proceeds,

knocking support from God’s deeds…

Historical’s fine

But draw the line,

Or your Accuser succeeds!’-

I’ve heard the insults of men,

And arguments of religion…

That cunningly catch

Your faith dispatch,

Woo you to legalism!

Stand firm even to stand,

Don’t be deceived even then…

Christ is your King

Give God everything,

Don’t stay submerged in you sin.

–Jonathan Caswell

WELLING UP TO OVERFLOWING

Samaritan woman’s thirst

For something so she won’t burst…

Came to this well

And heard Jesus tell,

To put Him first.

Thirsty beyond mere water,

She was a human daughter…

Caught in her lies–

Opened her eyes–

To see living water!

The Lord didn’t put her down,

As she went through her town…

Calling to tell

All of that Well,

Who would stick around!

–Jonathan Caswell

BIBLE REFERENCE:  John 4: 7- 31.

BEWARE THE CRITICAL SPIRIT…….NUMBERS 12 (BIBLE)

According to ‘WALK IN THE WORD”.

Miriam was most disturbed…

By Moses’ new marriage

That she disparaged,

Before getting to her deepest hurt.

In the original language used,

The female form was used…

Spoke a woman

Miriam,

Who felt most abused!

Said God–come here you three–

I’ll tell who is closest to Me…

Moses most humble

But ’bout Me you grumble,

Miriam’s tagged leprosy.

Seven days outside the camp,

Moses kept her from the damp…

Changed attitude

When God’s way viewed,

Healed–she came back, no cramp!

More recently, one fell to grumbling

Under his breath–not humbling–

What will God do

The dense to break through,

Or allow in his way some stumbling?

Grumbling under the breath,

In the Desert…was kiss of death…

But for God’s mercy

Miriam cutseyed,

And came back in perfect health!

“WALK IN THE WORD”…a radio program on WVNE, 760 AM, 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm, weekdays.

MARRIED AND PRAYING

We used to pray in bed,

With either the sleepy head…

Now-a-day

They read and pray

From their recliners instead!

One or the other reads

Bible according to needs…

Then pray

Over the day,

Pledging to God their deeds.

She claims it’s drawing them closer,

He’s glad that he chose her…

They agree

To mute the TV,

And to God draw closer!

–Jonathan Caswell

TACIT AGREEMENT!

Christian scholars  agree,

Christ’s return comes quickly…

A terrible time

Tribulation lined

Coming inevitably!

Prognosticators at night,

On radio say that’s right…

A really bad time

Coming down the line,

Could be a survival fight.

When these two groups say the same,

Look out for “what’s his name”…

The man of evil

Arrives to wheedle,

His power bases and fame.

See thou duly this warning,

A lot  near future storming…

Social upheaval

Sold out to evil,

The one world government is forming!

–Jonathan Caswell

SONG OF SOLOMON READINGS

Been putting off reading these Songs,

The wife would read along…

He sees no point

In reading it joint,

When acting them out is gone!

–Jonathan Caswell

WHY IS “GOOD FRIDAY” GOOD?

WHY IS “GOOD FRIDAY” …GOOD?

Good Friday, the time of death,

Crucifixion and Jesus’ last breath…

God is good–

It’s understood

That Christ had to die for the rest.

It’s good that we might see

Through Him, eternity…

Breaking the power

Of death that hour,

Resurrection proved its certainty!

The countdown that “Carmen” portrayed

Began that very day…

Jesus Who died

Being crucified,

Soon would escape His grave.

–Jonathan Caswell

*Carmen, a popular Christian musician, portrayed the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ as the start of a backwards countdown—as if for a rocket launch–to Christ’s rising from the dead at His resurrection.  A great portrayal!!!
