GENTLE WARRIOR!

(The Book of Genesis 32: 22-32)

Jacob renamed Israel,

Strove with the Lord’s Angel…

Up went the sun

Both had won,

As Israel’s hip pain would tell!

Wrestled all night with God,

Stubbornly living abroad…

Planted when

They were then,

God’s loving shoulders are broad.

The “Liar” became the “Winner”,

In faith so can all sinners…

Truly find cleansing

Relationship mending,

To break out of spiritual winters!

A new Creation was he,

The lying was gone you see…

In its place

Active holy grace,

The Angel brought him to his knees.

The Bible says he strove with God,

Not a man or a vision odd…

The pre-incarnate Christ

Before His birth night,

Was the Angel of God!

God striving with man,

Doesn’t flatten us although He certainly can…

But gives choice

Listening to His voice,

Instead of a absolute demand!

God wants love voluntary,

Not robotic or ancillary…

Jacob renamed

By the Most High Name,

Became a friend of God, not adversary.

PSALM 120: 6-7 AN OPINION

There are times I’d like to be under a rock

When arrows of hate fly by…

When  mobs shouting slogans are the ones being cocked

As a rapid-fire gun letting fly!

I preach peace and understanding

Of a human as evil as they…

But if they don’t get what they want this very second

Rational people are blown away!

Do you know the rulers who denied and ignored you

Are the very hateful ones yelling charge?

Higher-ups in the background. egging you forward

Only want their power enlarged?

“Progressives” don’t care about your families

Your finding jobs or taking a breath

Of freedom–they desire you stay dependent

And if desired–send you to death.

Raging at beck and call of professional handlers

Is not the way to be free…

Stop and think who you are really serving,

Will you listen to reason—MAYBE?

I call for peace and understanding

Not hate and blind fury…

Mobs tear down walls and break into disorder,

The reasoned among you better hurry!

On this rock I stand,

who will stand with me?

Will anyone see danger in the wind?

If no one else can vouch for a jury

Then civil rule may soon end!

An Opinion Piece–the Scripture says, in effect, “when I am for peace, they are for war!”

WHO HERE IS REALLY FOR WAR,

OR CAN SEE THE LOOMING DANGER OF RIOTING MOBS CAUGHT UP WITH ONE IDEA—NOT CARING FOR ANYONE’S OR ANYONE ELSE?

wake up you people.

–Jonathan Caswell, poet with as much right to his opinion as those being encouraged to riot in the streets—or trumpet hate here!

HE DID IT–NO EVIL TWIN!

Alas his evil twin,

Tried to implicate him…

The man’s “old nature”

In nomenclature,

Had influenced his whim!

Showcasing body parts,

Some consider arts…

But from which side–

The dark or the light–

The answer judges the art.

Removing the object in question,

Increasingly moral suggestion…

Is good for the soul–

The evil twins’ null–

Improving Scriptural digestion!*

*1st Peter 3: 7 refers to wives…applies to all woman-folk, in the doing of Christian love!

BEWARE THE CRITICAL SPIRIT…….NUMBERS 12 (BIBLE)

According to ‘WALK IN THE WORD”.

Miriam was most disturbed…

By Moses’ new marriage

That she disparaged,

Before getting to her deepest hurt.

In the original language used,

The female form was used…

Spoke a woman

Miriam,

Who felt most abused!

Said God–come here you three–

I’ll tell who is closest to Me…

Moses most humble

But ’bout Me you grumble,

Miriam’s tagged leprosy.

Seven days outside the camp,

Moses kept her from the damp…

Changed attitude

When God’s way viewed,

Healed–she came back, no cramp!

More recently, one fell to grumbling

Under his breath–not humbling–

What will God do

The dense to break through,

Or allow in his way some stumbling?

Grumbling under the breath,

In the Desert…was kiss of death…

But for God’s mercy

Miriam cutseyed,

And came back in perfect health!

EXODUS 20: 3-5 A POEM

Have no other gods before Him,

Not even by innocent whim…

It’s suicidal

To worship an idol,

Walking on ice very thin.

So periodically

He must sort his files to see…

What grabs his heart–

With that he must part,

‘Tis better than hypocrisy!

Culling out accumulations

Of any conflagrations,,,

That hold him fast

He will cast,

Out for sanctification.

FABRIC OF LIFE

First God-given fabric was skins,

Possibly lamb once within…

Fig leave basting

Not long-lasting,

The first sacrifice for sin.

Regular sacrifice

Became part of ancient life…

Covering sin

Lodged deep within,

For God couldn’t look upon vice!

Someday–Genesis 3: 16–

God ultimately intervenes…

God and man

Yet one, by plan,

Would satisfy the gap in-between.

That man is Jesus Christ,

Yeshua…Messiah ( in the Greek means  Christ)…

Mosaic Law–

He fulfilled it all,

With a perfect life and sacrifice.

His death and resurrection,

Was the ultimate connection…

Between God’s creation

And Himself—the nations–

Can CHOOSE their course correction!

How does God and man

Reconcile–the Bible shows we can…

God wooing us back

To being His with no lack,

Have faith in Christ–both God and man.

PROVERBS 24:32-34 C-PAP EDITION!

The message said call right away,

In sleeping he delayed…

Now need he seeks

Is delayed two weeks,

A very poor decision he made!

His breathing machine died,

His at-home sleep test verified….

He must go plead

For sooner filled need,

Urgently re-applied!

WHAT SORROW…CLEARING OF YOURSELVES!

(Read 2nd Corinthians 7: 11)

An Adult Subject Poem

A Christian feels sad,

Realizing more than a tad…

He’d gone overboard

Behaving untoward,

Mourning ’cause he’d been had!

In his personal sin

He’d let the enemy sneak in…

In certain ways

Our minds play,

Corrupting the soul within.

Certain things lure fantasy,

Enticing our own fancy…

Pictures and prose

Hooks one’s nose,

And mind in a trance, tragically!

Avoiding it all is best,

But if  Evil builds a nest…

The penalty for sin

Christ did in,

Repent now and enter His rest!

–Jonathan Caswell

THROUGH SMOKY WINDOWS I SEE…

(1st Corinthians 13: 12)

Now I see in part–

In time I’ll see the whole…

Until then I’ll strive

To better define my role.

In this darkened world

Christ’s disciples are the light…

We must stay close to God,

Reflecting His true Light.

One day I will know

Even as I’m known…

When looking back

I’ll seen how I’ve grown.

Hard times are coming–

If not already here–

When light will be tested

‘Though Love casts out all fear!

(1st John  4:18)

HITTING HOME

The latter part of Ephesians Four,

Verse twenty , so forth, is the core…

Of counseling

Objectives to swing,

Toward not “doing that” anymore!
