TIME TO CONFESS AND REPENT

AUTHOR’S NOTE:  He’s not trying to grandstand—just admit to his guilt of certain motives and conduct and ask forgiveness of those he has wronged–whether or not they feel they were.  It is a part of his Christian belief…being reconciled to God and the ones he has wronged asking forgiveness of both.  There is a Bible basis to all this, which the author believes by faith to be the transcribed word of God to be followed and obeyed.  Especially when he doesn’t!  Questions/Comments are always welcome.

Writer of poetry,

The “fashion” got away from me…

Chasing skirts

Many women hurts,

Of this I am guilty!

Sought “readers” unsuccessfully,

The hidden motive–to see…

What interested

Where saints shouldn’t tread

And pester them endlessly!

The many unreturned visits,

Prove out how wrong is it…

I know my sin

Repenting therein,

Stop this practice is the solution exquisite!

I will  stillreach out,

In subjects not ruled out…

Walk in the flesh

Heavily risks death,

Gotta pull some hot irons out!

The upshot–some I’ll follow–

The rest–if they visit tomorrow…

I’ll respond graciously

But not the pest–not me–

I’ve sinned–I repent in sorrow!

My actions toward those of whom I’ve spoken,

From now on–contact is broken…

This I must do

So they’ll feel safe too,

No need of me in their business poking.

WANTED…CLOSE COMMUNICATING!

WANTED CLOSE COMMUNICATING!

The problem was both had hurts,

Committed by trousers and skirts…

Commitment to trust

Gathered rust,

Both thought the other curt.

Walls and grudges build

Despite commitments to yield…

Many a marriage

Is disparaged,

By combat in the field.

Obvious one doesn’t understand,

The other’s health demands…

One bends over,

The other takes over

And pushes one into badlands.

The verbose one wonders why

The silent one won’t try

to open

As they’re hoping,

To fill them in bye-and-bye.

The silent one’s thoughts run sarcastic,

The other one listens to drastic…

And half the time

Is not so inclined,

They both fall into that basket!

GOLDEN AVENUES

GOLDEN AVENUES

Driving home this afternoon,

My “baby” in the car…

Sunlit wonder all around

From a burning orange star,

Trees ablaze in glory

Shielded those trees bare…

Formed a perfect backdrop

For sunlight-scented air!

But I had to hurry

Against the blinding sun…

Didn’t due to worry,

I had to make that run

To get her home and safe…

Would I get to work on time–

I had to keep faith!

Golden avenues along which

We traveled by car…

Lit with welcome light

From a friendly star;

Got the Missus home again

And then off I flew…

Arrived only an hour late–

WHEW!!!!

FORGIVEN AND FREE….by Carl Gooch

Forgiven and Free

God has equipped me with strength,
so I may walk blameless with Him.
He has given me cause and desire,
For my heart to sing praise to Him.

He called me out of the darkness,
That I may reflect His love and mercy.
He took my sins and made me clean,
I will testify so all the world may see.

The Lord dwells within my heart,
Exalted is the God of my salvation.
The love of the Lord protects me;
As His child I belong to His Holy nation.

God has given to me a purpose,
To show others what He’s done for me.
He is my sacrifice; He paid the price;
That I may live for Him, forgiven and free.

TEST AND APPROVE

TEST AND APPROVE

(The Book of Paul’s Letter to the Romans, Chapter 12: verse 2)

Test and approve God’s will

By learning what it is (better still)…

Renew your mind

With Bible study (Christ’s mind),

God’s good and pleasing, perfect, merciful will!

GOOD NEWS….by Carl Gooch

Good News

I’ve got a little song,
About a friend so true.
It doesn’t take long,
To see the good news.

This friend paid the price;
He was our sacrifice.
Our hearts are yearning,
For Jesus Christ is returning.

Good news… He’s coming
Coming to lead us home.
Good news… Christ is coming;
Coming for me and you.

Good news… He’s coming
Coming to lead us home.
Good news… Christ is coming;
Coming for me and you.

That glory train is coming,
Good news it is bringing.
The glory train is coming,
It’s going to carry us home.

Good news… He’s coming
Coming to lead us home.
Good news… Christ is coming;
Coming for me and you.

HIS LOVE IS NEW EVERY MORNING!

HIS LOVE IS NEW EVERY MORNING

For those of us who work late,

God never closes His eyes…

Whenever is a new day for you

Nothing catches Him by surprise.

Some things we cannot just leave behind,

The consequences to be borne…

Yet opportunities to get it right

Are made new every morn.

God’s mercy and His love resound,

Anew every minute each day…

Akk it takes is purose it in your heart

To let God show you His Way!

PEBBLE PETER AND OTHER STORIES

PEBBLE PETER AND OTHER STORIES

Remember Peter the Pebble*

Who never spoke in treble…

Whose heart was base

Til Jesus faced

Him and changed Peter into new metal!

Paul, 1st Century ground-pounder,

Took it seriously not to flounder…

Barnabas and he

Might have to flee,

Returning when control was sounder!

The Apostles traditionally

Took God’s Word internationally…

Jerusalem and out

Evangelists stout,

Struggled to set people free.

—Jonathan Caswell

SUNDAY IS COMING!

SUNDAY IS COMING!

I sure hope I’ll make it out

Depite my gimpy leg…

Getting to our church service

Will raise spirits a peg!

Other people slog through woods

And jungles getting there…

I just have to drive the car,

It almost seems unfair.

They, through great hardship,

Manage to attend each week…

I’ll miss if too tied

Or my leg begins to leak.

Each has their own suffering,

None like that of our Lord…

The more often we attend His church

The more often restored.

God accepts worship anywhere, but a crowd

Seems to be His favorite way hearing then sing loud…

Security in numbers–thousands are a thrill.

Taking tme to assemble is His joy and will.

MY PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS

MY PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS

He heard I knew one of his

Church members vis-a-vis…

My time in Rehab==

Decided to grab

An invite he knew I’d miss.

My prejudice against him

Are assumptins he thinks I work in…

Or are they true?

Upon review,

Similar to what I hold against him?

His woeking of the Spirit autocratic,

Where no one else better attack it…

I claim an open mind

But when honest find,

Some ideas aren’t automatic!

I think I’m more mature than him,

As a matter of observing, not whim…

A simpler faith

He sticks to it straight,

Pefrforming with an energetic vim1

He and I in our respective “kinds”

Have some poor experience in mind…

Where both were hurt

By the other hair-shirt*,

Which experiences put me in a bind.

I barely get to my own church now,

So I’m expected to go to his somehow…?

Although a change

Might rearrange

An attitude better than now.
