CHURCH ATTENDANCE–A HYPOTHETICAL POEM

He rarely attends now,

It’s gone and got diff’rent somehow…

He feels pushed aside

Not welcomed inside,

No one’s been direct with him, anyhow!

They used to go faithfully,

Found the spirit there strong and free…

The Pastor moved on

And a preacher took on

Things with his own personality.

With his circle of friends,

For our subject, being close to a pastor ends…

You know his pride

Didn’t like “outside”

But he wanted to attend.

Then he and his wife

Both saw ill health in life….

Comparison

With others is sin,

And churned up internal strife!

The preacher/teacher and he,

(Too much alike?) weren’t happy…

It shifted into

“An authority over you”

Which wasn’t as healthy!

Various dissatisfactions

Led to complaints and  feigned actions….

Poor communication

Led to frustration,

In mutual distraction.

So now he stays at home

Sundays, with his wife alone…

No need to go

Taken for granted so,

But he’s stuck–this was his church home.

Socially depended on her,

His wife, for communication stirred…

When she took ill

He didn’t have the will,

To see that his opening up occurred.

He’s given his life for her,

Literally as it were…

Goes it alone

Reaching out he’s done,

Elsewhere–little left at “home”.

Options to go elsewhere?

Feels bound by his wife–so there!

Decision paralyzed–

Easier to survive

By himself, ‘though few benefits to share!

A “hypothetical poem”–which means it is just a poem….!

PERMANENT SLAVE CLASS

PERMANENT SLAVE CLASS

(An economic opinion)

Raising the Minimum wage?

The “Progressive’s” constant rage…

You will not progress

Because of largess,

The Liberals have you caged!

Do you want to do this for life?

Letting those in power knife…

Your improvement

Of yourself–that went–

You’re being kept down for their strife!

Why is a President proud,

Of increased violent crowds?

While he plays

Golf most days,

Partying often and loud?

It’s because he basks in power,

Liberal prospects tower…

Deceive you they will

And send you the bill,

And if you question–glower!

I really wish I could side

On the other political divide…

But conservatives too

Want goodies from you,

Watching their vowed principles slide!

Opportunities are out there,

Be real–stop beating the air–

Striving break free

Of given slavery,

If you won’t save yourself—who really cares?

Lucky to get a full-time, TAKE IT,

Work really hard to make it…

Caught at the bottom

Prospects are rotten,

Your human dignity–RETAKE IT!!!

(An opinion piece)

GRATITUDE FOR “MY” WOMEN

GRATITUDE FOR “MY” WOMEN

I would have come on my own,

But she said to bring the wife…

Can’t get away with “nothing”

But that’s how I prefer my life.

Even joking is dangerous

For what, in an instant, he’ll do…

Reminded of certain realities.

Makes his heart remain true.

What’s in a fertile imagination

I’m told in a man is okay….

But when he strikes out for “freedom”

He mustn’t slip away!

He loves his wife, but excitement

Of another woman looks fun…

Sometimes a loving reminder

Confirms you’re the only one!

He may not like his dreams dashed,

By the targets of his urge….

But he needs to face it–

Betrayal is not a loving word!

–Jonathan Caswell

HE DAYDREAMS…

HE DAYDREAMS…ABOUT YOU!

He’ll neer say directly

But he dreams of you…

Very introspective,

He dreams of you in blue!

Green velvet brings out your eyes,

Pencil skirts would be great….

If help is needed to find a size

He’d gladly participate.

Day dreams go only so far

Exciting although they be…

You are the height of his daydreams

Even if you he’ll never see!

HE’S SWEET ON SOMEONE

HE’S SWEET ON SOMEONE

His is emotionally

Attached to someone he sees…

Willingness per view

Is nothing new,

For years, near-automatically!

He doesn’t dare name names,

To much risk that doing so shames….

Him and /or her

Better, as it were,

Keep on with his excuses lame.

In honest reality,

He’s sweet on nearly all he sees…

That are of a mind

Both open and kind,

A give-and-take mentality.

Certain ones do catch his eye,

Reveal…he won’t even try…

Suffice to say

Some blow him away,

But he’d be lost without his “Di.”

(His wife’s nickname)

DEDICATED TO  eh, MANY kind souls…FOXY FEMALES ALL!  đŸ˜€

AND SUDDENLY SHE’S GONE!

AND SUDDENLY SHE’S GONE!

(To all the Lady bloggers who change format, leave Word Press or don’t come around anymore…after I’ve grown to love, admire and need them!)

(With sorrowful cries to  one in particular!)

Another woman draws apart,

Taking a portion of heart…

I know it’s not fair

To keep her here,

But her leaving does smart!

I’m hardly more than sideshow

Of the hundreds of people to know…

My growing attached

Suddenly despatched,

Leaves this blog host feeling low

I hold no right to any,

But tied in friendship to many…

As much as is

For a poet like me,

Who longs for sisters and Mammy!

So go off–you’ll be fine.

I’ll get off this jag of mine…

People collecting

We should be rejecting,

But for losing you, I pine.

WANTED…CLOSE COMMUNICATING!

WANTED CLOSE COMMUNICATING!

The problem was both had hurts,

Committed by trousers and skirts…

Commitment to trust

Gathered rust,

Both thought the other curt.

Walls and grudges build

Despite commitments to yield…

Many a marriage

Is disparaged,

By combat in the field.

Obvious one doesn’t understand,

The other’s health demands…

One bends over,

The other takes over

And pushes one into badlands.

The verbose one wonders why

The silent one won’t try

to open

As they’re hoping,

To fill them in bye-and-bye.

The silent one’s thoughts run sarcastic,

The other one listens to drastic…

And half the time

Is not so inclined,

They both fall into that basket!

–Jonathan Caswell

WOULD ANYONE UNDERSTAND?

WOULD ANYONE UNDERSTAND?

He knows what most will say

If he tries to explain away…

The quandry he’s in

Taking on the chin

The reasdons he’s not okay.

The house and the car are a mess.

Bringing him down perplexed…

Why is he frozen

‘Bout easily chosen

Methods of reducing stress?

All he needs to do is CLEAN,

Not that hard, it would seem…

But mental blocvk

Makes his talk

Ultimately unredeemed.

He doesn’t intend to flout

His excessive burn-out…

Long term care

Getting nowhere,

His weakness he won’t tout.

Consequently onward he plods,

Hoping to even the odds…

What mind won’t do

Perhaps he’ll break through

Nutritionally, by eating pea pods!
