NEARLY TIME FOR TAPS…

(One Poet’s Opinion)

American stars and stripes,

Wave in fading light…

Spotlights glow

So we know,

Out flag is doing alright.

As for the country we cringe,

What is the next freedom impinged…

Ignored laws unliked,

Disapproval spiked,

The Administration acts unhinged.

And our leader of the free world,

Hates the country where he’s raising his girls…

They’ve openly proved

Suffering leaves them unmoved,

Unless there’s a news crew to twirl.

The “Change” is here,

Reaching for freedoms held dear…

Does what he likes–

Avoids open mikes–

Eventually his plan was made clear.

The ultimate patriotic sin

Is to tear us down from within…

Conquer-divide

While goodies are eyed,

The rest of us thrown in a bin.

The problem is, both sides

Seem to have similar prides…

Quietly taking

From upside-down shaking,

While laws are broken–each abides.

Who will call this to task,

Doesn’t seem to be any to ask…

Will any act

Or all are in fact

Willing to put we voters dead last?

AND SUDDENLY SHE’S GONE!

AND SUDDENLY SHE’S GONE!

(To all the Lady bloggers who change format, leave Word Press or don’t come around anymore…after I’ve grown to love, admire and need them!)

(With sorrowful cries to  one in particular!)

Another woman draws apart,

Taking a portion of heart…

I know it’s not fair

To keep her here,

But her leaving does smart!

I’m hardly more than sideshow

Of the hundreds of people to know…

My growing attached

Suddenly despatched,

Leaves this blog host feeling low

I hold no right to any,

But tied in friendship to many…

As much as is

For a poet like me,

Who longs for sisters and Mammy!

So go off–you’ll be fine.

I’ll get off this jag of mine…

People collecting

We should be rejecting,

But for losing you, I pine.

THEORY–SMEARY!

THEORY–SMEARY!

We humans love theories,

Arguing over trite queries…

Salvation needs

Done by deeds,

Debaters would whip up furies!

Some adhere to total free will,

Or God has us planned to the hilt…

Clever ruses

Debating who chooses,

Causing the hopeful to wilt.

Whether its God or you.

We still have a choice to do…

Come now decide

With God abide,

Or are you stuck in glue?

A ROUGH FINAL LANDING

A ROUGH FINAL LANDING

He could not really resist,

JUST ONE MORE BID…for this…

He’d hit ground

Before this round,

With funds that didn’t exist!.

He has his regular pay,

Extra moneys have flown away…

He’s going to plea

For poverty,

Though in faith the bid was made.

He’s hoping the other bidder

Is not in financial winter…

If the Seller decides

To set HIS aside,

Declaring the other the winner!

Sent messages–his fault–

Hasn’t had any answer–result…

He’s fearing that

There’s no escape flat,

Being caught in a final halt!.

MORE THAN A MERMAID

MORE THAN A MERMAID

(WARNING—ADULT MATERIAL)

As King David had Abishag,*

He wants a warm sleeping bag…

Some young beauty

For personal duty,

Who won’t leave him holding the bag!

He claims that he’ll be good,

Being unable for wood…

Being able to touch

Would mean so much,

Both ways be it understood.

He’s long past suitable age

To have desires uncaged…

His late night scheme

Is but a dream

Which no one will be willingly engaged!

–Jonathan Caswell

*Abishag…a beautiful young woman selected to provide personal care to the aging King David and to keep him warm at night,  Reportedly, he and she were not intimate with each other.  1st Kings 1:1-4.

SOMETHING’S WRONG.

SOMTHING’S WRONG.

He tried a new chip flavor,

Expectimg a taste he could savor…

But it went flat–

What’s up with that–

This brand he did not favor!

Next time, if he chooses at all,

Store brand flavors won’t fall…

More things than not

Less flavor they’ve got,

His taste buds may be at fault!

–Jonathan Caswell

It could be HIS TASTE BUDS at fault!

MY PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS

MY PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS

He heard I knew one of his

Church members vis-a-vis…

My time in Rehab==

Decided to grab

An invite he knew I’d miss.

My prejudice against him

Are assumptins he thinks I work in…

Or are they true?

Upon review,

Similar to what I hold against him?

His woeking of the Spirit autocratic,

Where no one else better attack it…

I claim an open mind

But when honest find,

Some ideas aren’t automatic!

I think I’m more mature than him,

As a matter of observing, not whim…

A simpler faith

He sticks to it straight,

Pefrforming with an energetic vim1

He and I in our respective “kinds”

Have some poor experience in mind…

Where both were hurt

By the other hair-shirt*,

Which experiences put me in a bind.

I barely get to my own church now,

So I’m expected to go to his somehow…?

Although a change

Might rearrange

An attitude better than now.

NOT WORTH THE SALT

NOT WORTH THE SALT…!

Last week in panicked gestalt,

He ate himself sick by default…

Too much processed food

Made his breathing oclude,

In the end it wasn’t worth all that salt!

BEEF AND BROCCOLI–CRAB RANGOON

BEEF AND BROCCOLI–CRAB RANGOON

Beef and broccoli, crab rangoon,

Yan’s* will bring my solace soon…

Encouragement by special treat

Something enjoyable to eat,

Helps him remember a happy tine!  🙂

* Yan’s…a local Chinese restaurant that doesn’t use MSG in its cooking.

CAN’T YOU WALK STRAIGHT…YET?????

CAN;T YOU WALK STRAIGHT…YET?????

(An amputee’s frustration)

He thought he’d be better by now,

Not tottering like a sick cow…

The amputee

Angrily,

Hated himself  right now.

Was writing his work epitaph

The next step on his behalf…

A frustrating deal,

The wound won’t heal

With nothing about it to laugh.

He used to limp before,

Exhaustion would make him limp more…

Now it’s a given

Struggling living,

Walking is a greater chore.

Discouragement isn’t cured

By increasing heartache endured…

Where can he find

Positive mind

Feeling he’s frequently skewered?

Walking with a cane hurts,

The pain’s unbearable spurts

Catch him off guard,

The productive bard

Feels like he’s getting worse.
