STRANGER THINGS…

Stranger outcomes happen,

When opportunity’s tapping,

Wanting in

And you begin

Writing ideas you’re trapping!

He’s written ’bout Christ and trains–

Weather seems worth one’s pains….

Fashion poems are new

As something to do,

And the challenge takes working brains!

I’d say it is channeling energy,

Most of which has left me….

Shapes and sizes

And stylish surmises,

Still need a bard’s entrĂ©e.

“An eye for the women.” one said,

Focusing on their clothes instead..

“Clothes make the man”

And women, and can

Leave little more to be said!

YET–a poet describes,

Details that emanate vibes…

Along a track

That likes feedback,

Both positive and wise!

PERMANENT SLAVE CLASS

PERMANENT SLAVE CLASS

(An economic opinion)

Raising the Minimum wage?

The “Progressive’s” constant rage…

You will not progress

Because of largess,

The Liberals have you caged!

Do you want to do this for life?

Letting those in power knife…

Your improvement

Of yourself–that went–

You’re being kept down for their strife!

Why is a President proud,

Of increased violent crowds?

While he plays

Golf most days,

Partying often and loud?

It’s because he basks in power,

Liberal prospects tower…

Deceive you they will

And send you the bill,

And if you question–glower!

I really wish I could side

On the other political divide…

But conservatives too

Want goodies from you,

Watching their vowed principles slide!

Opportunities are out there,

Be real–stop beating the air–

Striving break free

Of given slavery,

If you won’t save yourself—who really cares?

Lucky to get a full-time, TAKE IT,

Work really hard to make it…

Caught at the bottom

Prospects are rotten,

Your human dignity–RETAKE IT!!!

(An opinion piece)

CHANGING TREE TANKA

CHANGING TREE TANKA

Colors start to pop,

Trees shut down their leaves’ supply…

Green leaves turn colors:

Morphology is working

Just the same in ev’ry year!

–J.E.C.

People come from far

And near…”peeping” foliage…

Brighter is better:

Bus loads come en mass to shop.

Local business harvests crops!

–J.E.C.

A final push all

Benefit from folderol…

Festivals light skies:

Candied apples and brown bread

Folks ready for winter dead.

–J.E.C.

Railroad excursions,

Northeast woodland incursions…

Train cars filled with joy:

Steam or diesel pull the trains,

Nostalgic commerce makes gains!

AUTUMN HAIKU HERDING

AUTUMN HAIKU HERDING

Fall plantings are in,

Cabbages, hardy mums bloom…

Autumn colors glow!

Warm days–cooler nights

Ushering those southward flights…

Noisily birds fly.

Harvest time each year,

Dresses and skirts lower hems…

Less yield for the men!

Snow birds fly or drive,

Commuting to stay alive…

Rubber tires fly!

Children play in leaves,

Hot chocolate sales go up…

Deserted beaches!

Eggs and produce come

Veggies come from foreign lands…

Locally–now!

THE SIGH OF RELIEF

THE SIGH OF RELIEF

Payday has come–in brief–

We heave a sigh of relief…

Not out of the woods

But in the black–good–

‘Though spending is on a short lease.

Edging back from the breach,

Defying our temptations to preach…

Back from the dead

Financially said,

To do anything is a reach!

SCROUNGING WEDNESDAY NIGHT

SCROUNGING WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Laundry money goes in the till

A gas tank to partially fill…

Supper’s demand

Generally from a can

And peanut butter at will.

Tomorrow is payday,

We got home and are okay…

The check’s nearly spent

On various events,

And pay the electric, by the way!

Why can’t we just spend it now,

Not wait for the morning crow…

Banking regs

Prevent us eggs

From being too much of a sow.

So much rides each week

On payday—as we speak–

Creditors gather

In states of lather

To prey on the paid, up a creek!
