CHURCH ATTENDANCE–A HYPOTHETICAL POEM

He rarely attends now,

It’s gone and got diff’rent somehow…

He feels pushed aside

Not welcomed inside,

No one’s been direct with him, anyhow!

They used to go faithfully,

Found the spirit there strong and free…

The Pastor moved on

And a preacher took on

Things with his own personality.

With his circle of friends,

For our subject, being close to a pastor ends…

You know his pride

Didn’t like “outside”

But he wanted to attend.

Then he and his wife

Both saw ill health in life….

Comparison

With others is sin,

And churned up internal strife!

The preacher/teacher and he,

(Too much alike?) weren’t happy…

It shifted into

“An authority over you”

Which wasn’t as healthy!

Various dissatisfactions

Led to complaints and  feigned actions….

Poor communication

Led to frustration,

In mutual distraction.

So now he stays at home

Sundays, with his wife alone…

No need to go

Taken for granted so,

But he’s stuck–this was his church home.

Socially depended on her,

His wife, for communication stirred…

When she took ill

He didn’t have the will,

To see that his opening up occurred.

He’s given his life for her,

Literally as it were…

Goes it alone

Reaching out he’s done,

Elsewhere–little left at “home”.

Options to go elsewhere?

Feels bound by his wife–so there!

Decision paralyzed–

Easier to survive

By himself, ‘though few benefits to share!

A “hypothetical poem”–which means it is just a poem….!

EXODUS 20: 3-5 A POEM

Have no other gods before Him,

Not even by innocent whim…

It’s suicidal

To worship an idol,

Walking on ice very thin.

So periodically

He must sort his files to see…

What grabs his heart–

With that he must part,

‘Tis better than hypocrisy!

Culling out accumulations

Of any conflagrations,,,

That hold him fast

He will cast,

Out for sanctification.

LAUNCHING WORDS, SHIPS, PINK-COLORED SLIPS

LAUNCHING WORDS, SHIPS, PINK-COLORED SLIPS

A face that truly inspires,

Greed and avarice fires…

Dressed up nice

But cold as ice,

Does she care about what transpires?

Often idols are kept

Away from those who have wept…

A picture that’s true

Reality, will it do?

For those whose souls have left?

Women dressed up and admired,

No control over what transpired….

Men use romance

Justifying advance,

After brutally acquired.

(A different side of the coin, perhaps?)

HARD-TO-HEAR HAIKU

HARD-TO-HEAR HAIKU

(Adult Topic)

Become impotent

His fading manhood laments…

But what is inside?

-JEC

Little feeling left,

No place left to vent the ache…

Must thinking change, too?

–JEC

Engorgement all gone,

Being faithful accepts lack…

No one left to love.

–JEC

How to love without?

Can a man still be a man”’

His woman knows that!

–JEC

Appreciates form,

Less likely liquid lusting…

Why keep the old ways?

–JEC

Is safer this way…

For all women that he sees,

Much less threatening!

–JEC

Power lust remains,

That…no non-phallic can cure…

Bad apples near tree.

HAREM SCARE’EM AND ME!

HAREM SCARE ‘EM AND ME !

(To the tune of “THE YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS”…A SONG)

He thought he’d like a harem–

Oh, what a great idea–

Collecting beautiful women

For each day of the year…

Have one of every hair color:

Of red-heads, two or three,

Some that change with the season

Oh what a company!

But modern girls aren’t like the ones

That lived in olden time,

They’re much more educated,

Don’t easily resign…

Their lives and their futures

To a fat cat jailer-king,

To volunteer they’d like to hear

His cash disbursement ring.

Logistics would be maddening

Even if all were convinced,

Coming from all over

When he saw the bill he winced…

He began feeling outnumbered

Cooperation thin,

Instead of coming one-by-one

They all came after him!

He couldn’t pay their wages

So all up and left,

His fine plans for his evenings–

Not a single one was kept…

And then he got the bills for

The leaving of each one,

He decided then and there

Modern harems were no fun!

I thought of the same thing myself,

Like “THE HAREM OF BIRDS”

But only beautiful bloggers–

Women, in other words…

An exclusive club with just one man

My wife would veto fast,

My flesh already wants control—

The concept sounds a blast.

But thinking realistically

My cost is way too much,

I’ll lose those friends who cannot stand

A married man’s touch…

Long-distance relationships

Are harder to maintain,

I’d just as soon give up now

Before I feel the pain!

ON AGING

ON AGING

Gradually changing to be

From caregiver to “care-for-me”…

Independence fails

As the subject flails,

Struggling for quality.

Working in nursing homes

Keeps folks from being alone…

One has to harden

Then, not pardon

The frequent unending drone.

Folks who can still be kind

In the face of that sort of grind…

Have my vote

As folks with a Coat

Of Arms—of a gentle mind!”

In Rehab, I took time

To relate to those inclined…

Demential cases

Haven’t solid bases

But deep memory refined.

Will I end up like them,

Both Mom and Dad feared it back then…

Would have been kinder

For Dad without reminder

Of all he’d lost…and when.

So we’ll take it day-by-say,

In fact there’s no other way…

To not worry

Or to curry

Pity by obnoxious display!

RIGHTEOUS ANGER???

RIGHTEOUS ANGER???

His wife suggests he  do

Exactly as she does…

She seems to think she’s helping

But he’s angry because…

He’s not some “panty-waisted” chump

Who doesn’t have a brain,

His ways are as good as her’s

without his feeling chained.

Things of safety

Or medicine, he’ll do.

She has good ideas

That have helped him get through…

The ordeals they find in life

And work together on,

But he’s not a clone of the wife

And wants to keep his manhood strong.

BUSHWHACKED TIME

BUSHWHACKED TIME

He loves his wife dearly,

But finds times where clearly

He can’t compete with her verbal skill…

Trying in the middle

‘Tween nurse and her to fiddle,

Being shut from conversation is a pill.

Nurse is there to see HIM

But she, by social need, whim,

Dominates attention naturally…

Feeling slighted. hurt,

By a normally loving skirt

When medicine is done he struggles free.

Quiet men do

Want to get in too,

Flattened by momentum uncontrolled…

Afterward complaining

Is common refraining,

A thoughtful guy is not always extolled.

Let it go aside,

No need to be snide,

Next time a different nurse may be…

Willing to address

The male need of success–

Getting more attention for me!

Living with a wife

Understanding married life,

Acceptance of social ebb and flow…

Though he’s put out now

He needn’t have a cow,

Loving her, he’s big enough to know.

ON THE UP AND UP

ON THE UP AND UP

His old recliner chair

Feet  stuck in the air…

The aged back

Was on the floor, Jack

Upset said, “this isn’t fair!”

It was about four AM,

He awakened from dreamland…

Feet in the sky

He wondered why

He’s ever sleep there again.

He’d have to approach his honey

To see if they had the money…

Once replaced

He’d not be red-faced,

And nights would be more sunny!

CLOSE QUARTERS

CLOSE QUARTERS

This long-term staying at home

Husband-wife relations groan…

Comment brings strife

Reconciled with the wife,

Each have their own painful moan.

Conflict resolution takes place

When living close–face-to-face–

Thank God for prayer

Allowing fresh air

And necessary private space!
