EXODUS 20: 3-5 A POEM

Have no other gods before Him,

Not even by innocent whim…

It’s suicidal

To worship an idol,

Walking on ice very thin.

So periodically

He must sort his files to see…

What grabs his heart–

With that he must part,

‘Tis better than hypocrisy!

Culling out accumulations

Of any conflagrations,,,

That hold him fast

He will cast,

Out for sanctification.

LAUNCHING WORDS, SHIPS, PINK-COLORED SLIPS

LAUNCHING WORDS, SHIPS, PINK-COLORED SLIPS

A face that truly inspires,

Greed and avarice fires…

Dressed up nice

But cold as ice,

Does she care about what transpires?

Often idols are kept

Away from those who have wept…

A picture that’s true

Reality, will it do?

For those whose souls have left?

Women dressed up and admired,

No control over what transpired….

Men use romance

Justifying advance,

After brutally acquired.

(A different side of the coin, perhaps?)

WE GIVE OUR MAKER PRAISE

WE GIVE OUR MAKER PRAISE

We give our Maker praise

For all sorts of cloud and haze…

He wraps Himself proud

With myriad dark cloud,

We call Him the Ancient of Days!

All that with breath rejoice,

God  made Man His CHOICE…

Of being able

To choose God’s table,

Or favor and love to lose.

God wants with you to walk.

And not folk who just talk the talk…

Will you agree

His child to be,

Or for eternity balk?

ON AGING

ON AGING

Gradually changing to be

From caregiver to “care-for-me”…

Independence fails

As the subject flails,

Struggling for quality.

Working in nursing homes

Keeps folks from being alone…

One has to harden

Then, not pardon

The frequent unending drone.

Folks who can still be kind

In the face of that sort of grind…

Have my vote

As folks with a Coat

Of Arms—of a gentle mind!”

In Rehab, I took time

To relate to those inclined…

Demential cases

Haven’t solid bases

But deep memory refined.

Will I end up like them,

Both Mom and Dad feared it back then…

Would have been kinder

For Dad without reminder

Of all he’d lost…and when.

So we’ll take it day-by-say,

In fact there’s no other way…

To not worry

Or to curry

Pity by obnoxious display!

MY PASSING FRIEND

MY PASSING FRIEND

She’s the only one who remarked

About my freshly shorn hair…

The one who always stops

To smile when I’m there.

She is a good friend in passing

Nearly every night…

Never for harassing

But for spreading delight!

The ending of Sarah’s workday

Near the beginning of mine….

Coincides with a pleasant exchange

For one passing point of time.

GREAT GRAVITATIONAL GRAVATAR!

GREAT GRAVATATIONAL GRAVATAR!

A blogger said I looked too fat,

Now what did she mean by that…

My blogging thumbnail,

Seven years in the pale

Says nothing on how I’m now sat!  🙂

Technology challenges real

Prevent more recent reveal…

Film undeveloped

And selfies untaken,

The S.L.R. camera

Takes concentration,

With nothing new

To print I’m in trouble;

If she wants “me” current

I’ll make a plan on the double!

BY HIS FINGERNAILS

BY HIS FINGERNAILS

(If he has any left.)

His long ordeal seems done,

The battle with amputation almost won…

But occurence

Of ending insurance,

Worries his future to come.

Received a continuance letter

Which helped him feel somewhat better…

Answers come slow

By snail-mail you know,

But his social worker–he’s glad to have met her.

MORE THAN SATISFACTORY

MORE THAN SATISFACTORY

A special Valentines Day,

More snow is coming to play…

On hills and dales

That high wind avails,

Whilst we stay inside and sashay!

We have our Saturday dinner,

My wife’s fancy dress a winner…

A Polish feast

For greatest to least,

Ah, community love doth glimmer!

After our repast nightcap,

We ambled home for a nap…

My love and me

Snore peacefully,

In recliners and my C-PAP!

She got a card out for me,

Am I too lazy?,,,

Neither could shop

(Will the snow ever stop!),

Our love is for eternity.

LITTLE DOG DRIPPING

LITTLE DOG DRIPPING

Fashionable sweater athwart,

A miniature stalwart…

Dripping snow melt

Loving hands felt,

While he was leaning to port.

Coming in from outside,

Braving a snowfall tide…

Leaving a mark

Out where cars park

And quickly returning inside!

THE PLATEAU

THE PLATEAU

Why does he not progress,

A  subconscious reason I’d guess…

Gets less attention,

Social intervention,

Riding on the healing express?
