GINGER TABBIES STILL RULE!!!

Screen saver—what does he choose…

A ginger tabby to vanquish his blues,…,

Can;t have any more

Cat scratches infect more,

But his memories–those he can use!

Puss Cat, Ginger and Balim,

All names chosen at whim…

The first two

His wife and he knew,

But he grew up with With stubborn Balim!

Balim Yalson Caswell,

The Yalson’s had to back in Turkey dwell…

Our family

Adopted Balie”,

Every year about their cat…we would tell!

Balim, although gradually b lind,

Was as stubborn as his Caswell kind…

Went where he pleased

His last mouse wasn’t teased—

But ignored it–was it not on his mind?

Jonathan Caswell

Picture is representative of his  many ginger tabby cats!

DEFERRED MAINTENANCE

GENESEE AND WYOMING bought,

PROVIDENCE AND WORCESTER stock…

At crossings I see

New grass frequently,

Where once I saw only rock!

Sadly I watch the downgrade,

Of physical plant improvements made…

It is a let down

Seeing grass newly grown,

Like this buyout wasn’t the best trade?-

Less-used spurs look like this too,

A shock for this railfan true-blue…

Grass along the ties–

Most think it small-sized,

But what else will  they not do?

An opinion of the author–above image is an example of–not the real grassy track referred to–which is at the Hartford Street  crossing in North Uxbridge, Massachusetts.

FASHION IS FABRIC AND STYLE

(Image courtesy Carmen, of the Fashion with Compassion blog)

Fashion is fabric and style,

Especially wearing a smile…

Accessories

Like bangles to please,

Its wearers  and worth their while!

Simple to complex patterns,

And how tight a fit all matters…

A casual bust

Mostly untrussed,

Older convention shatters.

Included is arrangement of hair,

Interesting beauty here…

Curls or long flowing

A woman’s style showing,

Through good impressions there!

CHRONIC DEPRESSION VERSUS THE LORD

(From the author’s notebook.  Written 4/14/16)

Depression seen as chronic,

Folks judge moronic…

Why choose

And refuse

To be catatonic?

Some have the crazy idea,

Behavior is willful and clear…

Always a choice

With inner voice,

Pointing the way to steer!

“Just stop that,” is a farce,

Who gave you the right to parse…?

Some things are not

As easily shot,

Without making it worse!

Why don’t you understand

Continuing to reprimand…

This creation fallen

Is appalling,

But the way things currently stand?

The chronic depressed are cast,

Into a bullring vast…

One says, “OLE”

All you need to say

Is begone, and the sickness is past”!

We’re often pushed aside,

Who will the “gutless”  abide…?

But Christ’s embrace

Filled with grace

Can heal all that’s inside!

An Opinion Poem..based in part on the author’s personal experience.

STRANGER THINGS…

Stranger outcomes happen,

When opportunity’s tapping,

Wanting in

And you begin

Writing ideas you’re trapping!

He’s written ’bout Christ and trains–

Weather seems worth one’s pains….

Fashion poems are new

As something to do,

And the challenge takes working brains!

I’d say it is channeling energy,

Most of which has left me….

Shapes and sizes

And stylish surmises,

Still need a bard’s entrée.

“An eye for the women.” one said,

Focusing on their clothes instead..

“Clothes make the man”

And women, and can

Leave little more to be said!

YET–a poet describes,

Details that emanate vibes…

Along a track

That likes feedback,

Both positive and wise!

TIGHTENING PERSONAL SCREWS

Before this chance to play,
He happened on picture display…
Got rid of some
Had no permission from,
The rest seemed very okay!

Mostly his file contains trains,
God, and a few fashion shots remain…
ALCO pictures
He often features,
But the RS-1 model of engine reigns!

Like all other illustration,
Permission precedes dissemination…
so only a few
Christian pictures accrue,
Avoiding recriminations!

CAPE FEAR

intensifying in waves,

speaking failure and graves…

lost on stormy

ground lonely,

wind-whipped the future he braves.

fear for loved ones looms

and for himself, one assumes…

inability

of able-ly

seeing into the gloom.

fear like a cape surrounds,

herding one toward safer grounds…

fear of failing

rebels assailing,

risky behavior impounds!

KINDNESS UNEXPECTED!

He came to the checkout line,

A couple ahead and behind…

Was his turn

And then learned

He’d surpassed his credit line!

The woman in back offered

To pay the difference erred…

A bagful returned

He accepted her terms,

Thank you’s and God Bless you’s aired!

She said was a Mother’s Day gift,

I told the cashier I’d wait to sip…

My soda at home

With the Missus alone,

But I’m gratefull her hand tipped!

HARD LESSONS

Foreigners on telephones,

Must on English hone…

We don’t understand

They won’t meet demand,

Of sales quotas for long!

I’m NOT AGAINST ethnicity,

But clear communication my plea…

We cannot serve THEM

Poor English must end,

If they wish to truly be free!
