MODELING MEMORIES

His memories of New England various,

Were by and large vicarious…

Mostly pictures he saw

with interest and awe,

His chances of a visit–hilarious!

Point of fact he was too young,

Couldn’t drive himself even some…

The eight-hour ride

Once a summer left wide,

Window for relevant magazines to come!

Still his interest grew,

Past the time when he knew…

This paint scheme was gone,

these ALCOs moved on.

But the history he wanted to view.

Found an N scale engine thus,

Painted just like this—a plus–

To re-enact

Historical fact,

Without too much fuss!

<3 JOANNE <3

❤    JOANNE    ❤

Putting it very succinctly,

Joanne in our eyes is distinctly…

A treasure to see

While we happily,

Visit her office meekly.

In fashion that’s the best,

In professional confidence rests…

Her cheery manner

With not a complainer,

Or any of which we’ll attest!

Blessed by her children dear,

We’re blessed by her presence here…

Those of us taken,

Loyalties unshaken

Would make our affection of her clear!

We hope this Valentine will do,

We sure do appreciate you…!

THE LORD CLEANED MY COMPUTER.

THE LORD CLEANED MY COMPUTER

(or arranged it!)

To say that God cleaned it

Is to say He arranged the act…

There is no doubt that without His clout

I once again would have been smacked.

The on-line guy never called back

So I was left in the lurch…

I asked Pastor for prayer and

He and others prayed right in church.

My neighbor introduced me to the man who

Had been fixing computers a while…

He didn’t upload what I wanted,

But left me with a smile.

He did as he’d normally done,

Cleaned and set things up right…

So now I’m safer with protection besides

And the cost was much less of a fright!

The Lord in His mercy sent someone along,

Of that I am entirely convinced…

If I had gone with my original plan,

The bank account would have winced!

TOYING WITH TANKA

Been taken as a fool

A two-hundred dollar school,

Burning with laughter

Their laughter–smiling at me

Smilingly to the bank vault!

SOME PENTATETTE SUBMISSIONS:

SOME PENTATETTE SUBMISSIONS:

I submitted limericks to THE PENTATETTE** for several years. These are just a few.

It’s raining and snowing together,

The perfect Worcester (Mass.) weather…

But here’s the trick,

It better not stick

With cars driving hell-for-leather!

–J.E.C.

Blogging of a starlet’s spiral

Downwardly took off viral…

What is stank,

She laughs to the bank

Not caring her story’s hirel.

I once had red hair you see,

But grey, black and bald’s left to me…

My prejudice arose

‘Gainst the men I suppose,

Because anger for me was easy!

In October his Mom died of cancer,

After all this time there’s no answer…

Why he’s not cried

But deep inside

The issue takes more than a glance, sir.

–J.E.C.

He once knew a family from Douglas

Whose home was practically bug-less…

They sprayed lots of mist

With chemical fist,

Poisoned the dog and went pugless!

A NEW SERIES !

A NEW SERIES!

A bucket list author assured

Himself that his work endured…

Did awful in sales

But he prevails

By putting pieces out as lures!

I had me a book manuscript nearly ( ? ) completed…and suddenly decided not to publish, at least not at that publisher, as nice as the new staff .  Maybe I will send it to them but not just now.

ON THE RECEIVING END,

by Jonathan Caswell

SO…on this blog, BY THE MIGHTY MUMFORD and my other blog, THE MARVELOUS MUMFORD–and maybe some teasers at OUR POETRY CORNER–I’ll be posting poetry from the alleged book until I figure out where and how to formally publish it–if at all.  🙂

THE BOOK…is about my recent experience over the last six months or so, damaging, ignoring, losing two toes on my right foot by amputation, rehab. and recovery.  The basic premise–with other observations added–is to look at how difficult doctors, caretakers and such like me ( ! ) make such terrible patients, when it’s our turn to be cared for!

Other bloggers use some titles repeatedly as categories.  Each of mine here are what I plan to use in the book, which is, as you know, semi-autobiographical.  These subtitles will be (in this series):

READY…AIM…FIRE!

(Who makes poor patients and maybe why?)

THE HEALERS

(Nurses, therapist, aides from hospital, rehabilitation and home care I’ve known)

REHAB RUMINATIONS

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

(Various related issues of interest)

THE END OF THE MATTER?

IS THAT KIZZIE CAT?

IS THAT KIZZIE CAT?

A fat, furry tiger-and-white

In the hallway here…

Posing in front of his apartment door,

As he does throughout the year.

Flops himself indolently

Stretching out in cat display…

Woe betide the scratcher of bellies,

He might not want to stay.

When we first moved in next door

A poodle had resided here…

Kizzie clawed the poodle’s paws

The poor dog ran in fear.

We had a cat of our own at the time

But Kizzie bold as brass…

Entered our apartment,

Vanquishing the dog at last!

For nailing the little dog paws,

Kizzie lost his front claws…

When that dog walked by

A careful eye

Was kept where Kizzie might pause.

Our cat has gone

But Kizzie the cat lives on….

Sometimes he greets me with his feats,

Slips into his door and is gone.

MORGAN’S WALK

MORGAN’S WALK

Janet and Morgan down the stairs

To take a walk outside…

Janet used to show despair

But now they walk with pride.

Morgan, a big dog for this place,

Once would jump with glee…

Encountering anyone close-by

Scaring dog and humanity.

The dog went off to obedience school

Learning her lessons well…

So most times she remembers the rules,

As anyone can tell.

Janet and Morgan make their way

Outside on their daily jaunt…

Often submitting to a scratched ear

For behaviour she can flaunt!
