POET…AFTER (A) FASHION!

He calls himself “fashion poet”,

One or two others know it…

In pursuits

Avoiding lawsuits,

He certainly doesn’t want to blow it!

Him being man and all,

Must carefully judge his call…

With less passion

Than stereotypical fashion,

Not being the Beast at the ball.

Gender matters to him,

Especially if women…

They’re the kind

He most has in mind,

Do they mind if he tiptoes in?

HANDS-ON…MY HISTORY

HANDS-ON…MY HISTORY

I took a fabled RS-1* into the living room

On a tray to try doing some work…

I wanted to replace that body shell with one bought new,

Then progress was caught up with a jerk.

It was the Two-Fourteen I had in my hands,

Numbered for our first letter exchange…

February Second completed the first round

As our relationship grew strong and aged.

The “214” is painted silver with red-white-and blue

Stripe around both hoods (old AMTRAK stock)…

Maybe I’ll just finish changing this one’s couplers’

Putting one of three “NEW HAVENs” on the body shell changing block!

*NOTE:

All of these locomotives are N scale models of the American Locomotive Company (ALCO) model RS-1…in the author’s collection.  Some of his units are lettered and numbered for important life events….like when he and his wife exchanged their first letters (#214)  or the date they were engaged (#5388…for the date 5/3/1988).

WHY ARE FASHION BLOGGERS SO YOUNG?

WHY ARE FASHION BLOGGERS SO YOUNG?

Young women it seems to me’

Blog fashion plentifully,

Is most fashion sold

Aimed not at the old,

What’s the answer to this mystery?

Older models fill the pages

Of magazines for wages…

Is it that the young

Find it more fun,

To model for their own ages?

Whatever, I’m glad they are there,

E’en though I don’t have their hair (!)…

New fashions may

Come my wife’s way,

Which shows her that I care!

NO DIFFERENT “DOWN EAST”

NO DIFFERENT “DOWN EAST”

We’d like to visit Maine,

But now it’s much the same…

Melting snow piles

And weary smiles

Waiting for springtime plain.

Like us they’re tired

Alternately wired…

By long hours

Fighting snow showers

Paying the extra plows hired.

Nearly out of salt

To keep up the lively assault…

Snow-covered roads,

Icy ones goad

Town employees to help out.

A CORDUROY SKIRT & JACKET

A  CORDUROY SKIRT AND JACKET

(sing to THE YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS)

A corduroy jacket

And skirt are going to be

The next sewing project

My love does, you see…

She’ll make it from material

That cost a lot of “dough”

But I do like the pattern

And will love her in it so!

Oh, the patterned blue fabric,

A fancy corduroy…

Is worth the glow in her eyes

When I paid for this joy;

She’ll have her new sewing machine

Which I guess I’ll set up too,

And help her with the making of

Until the set is through!

We can’t afford to hire help

Except for a tip or two,

This pattern cost a lot to get

But she’s not feeling blue…

Except to say my illness brought

Her project to a halt,

Just taking over for her love

She did not find me fault.

My BLUE SAPPHIRE OF JOHNSBURG (see Archives!)

Is the best one for me,

She takes up the slack I bore

And responsibility…

The least I can do for my love

Is allow a corduroy bolt,

To help her smile a good long while

And scamper like a colt!  😀

GENUINE GINGER

GENUINE GINGER

My Visiting Nurse, redhead Dale,

Rarely does fail…

To brighten our day

Til she goes away,

And then our hearts often sail.

Perhaps of ample girth,

She brings her usual mirth…

My wife and I

See her twinkling eye,

She’s a ruby on the earth!

MORE THAN SATISFACTORY

MORE THAN SATISFACTORY

A special Valentines Day,

More snow is coming to play…

On hills and dales

That high wind avails,

Whilst we stay inside and sashay!

We have our Saturday dinner,

My wife’s fancy dress a winner…

A Polish feast

For greatest to least,

Ah, community love doth glimmer!

After our repast nightcap,

We ambled home for a nap…

My love and me

Snore peacefully,

In recliners and my C-PAP!

She got a card out for me,

Am I too lazy?,,,

Neither could shop

(Will the snow ever stop!),

Our love is for eternity.

HIS SPIRIT POURED OUT

HIS SPIRIT POURED OUT

Praise God for Deborah Grey,

She’d been too long away…

Her phone call

Blesses us all

So thankful for God’s display.

We hadn’t spoken for months,

My wife did write her once…

Told her my story,

To God be glory,

He uses this spiritual dunce.

Knowing the truth made her laugh

WITH ME and on my behalf…

It’s joyful knowing

No one I’m snowing

Nor subject to judgmental wrath!

We talked for nearly an hour,

A wonderful cleansing shower…

This sister close

Deliberately chose

In us to His sweet Spirit pour!

ROLE REVERSALS–NO PROBLEM!

ROLE REVERSALS–NO PROBLEM!

Caretaker of his wife, he was

Until amputation thus…

Found care of him

Under her whim,

His ego matured for the cause.

Their life in Christ was in being,

Through His love seeing…

Encouraging souls

Ultimate goals,

Whom they were was in Him succeeding.

Success not a matter of role,

But God’s encouraging the whole…

Definition by deed

It was Christ’s to succeed,

While His children with Him are clothed.

Working this through mortal frames

Is but one of Spiritual aims…

To work His will

Whether healthy or ill,

In Godly mercy and love  Christ came.

Who thus the greater be,

But Christ, Who lives in me…

We are man and wife,

Ransomed for life–

Father God as Daddy!

EVICTED AGAIN

EVICTED AGAIN

She had a tired look,

This Aide who seriously took…

My wife on

To straight up, “Mawn”,

Told me, in effect, to “book”.*

One more bag of trash,

Disposed of with panache…

Until they were through

What they had to do,

When I returned I could crash.

So gave them extra time

By posting more on-line…

Apartments small

Won’t fit us all,

My wife needs her chance to shine!

–Jonathan Caswell

* “to book”….to go (away) somewhere else
