HAS IT BEEN THIS LONG?

Practice in city driving

Thankful sufficient timing…

Route memory

Made it easy,

Without my wife’s reminding!

ANTI-P.C. MODEL RAILROADING?

He going back a few years

When people held fewer fears…

About burning coal

For energy goals,

When a coal train regularly appears!

Not using behemoth power,

A giant producing huge watts-per-hour…

But a cool RS-1

To get  the job done,

Or a steam engine with cinder shower!

Close down this plant—Why?

So you got a little smut in your eye…

Berry bushes poke through–

Gonna wipe out thorn bushes, too?

Expensive scrubbers can clean up the sky.

Most of all–coal trains bring jobs,

Labor and wind farms at odds…

How many men

Does solar need attend,

Its labor needs at large?

Moving coal cars is fun,

As models–not the real ones–

Although on my pike

I’ll do what I like,

But not with the same need of funds!

WHERE IS THAT FAIRY WORLD?

Where is the fairy world now,

In cities is it absent somehow…

Quiet forest glades

In most cities can’t be made,

Not even a mooing cow!

Cities tend toward sound,

Coming from all around…

Sound and light

Throughout any night,

Pretty hard to find fairy ground!

Perhaps in garden plots,

Common owners who believe a lot…

Putting fairy houses

In hopes that arouses,

Wee folk to give it a shot.

WONDERS WHERE I GREW UP!

Over hill and dale

To Binghamton I’d sail…

Happily

A “Bingo-town” spree,

As daydreams do avail.

Various interesting trains,

On branch line and main…

ALCOs near-gone

Rail soldiers on,

In it’s dancing refrain.

The hospital where Dad “Chaplain-ed”,

A lot of shrinking has happened…

Buildings torn down

Services by the town,

And mini-steam plants enacted.

Our residence still stands,

Used for other demands…

Memories

Of growing-up trees,

I sure understand!

Behind the house sat

The grave of our Bally-cat…

A mulberry tree

Marked his entry

Into where dead pets are at.

Culture I’m sure is there,

Two folk dance groups, if you car…

As far as downtown

I’ve not been around,

But assume its commercial air.

I’ve ignored most of my school mates,

Too bad I couldn’t find a place…

For friends who struggled,

Occasionally snuggled,

To life’s accelerated pace?

In my mind I can see

Multiple routes to conveniently…

Go here to there

Over to that square,

My mind’s eye can still see!

Both parents are buried out there,

Haven’t gone back since Dad was put there…

So many years

In arrears,

Memories are all I can share.

THE BRITISH EAT MASHED PEAS

The British have fish and chips,

Newspaper-wrapped for drips…

Their specialties

Include mashed (or mushed) peas,

Instead of potato as chips?

ACCUSTOMED REACTION

My boss stood outside

Until I had arrived…

Put two with two–

Now what did I do–

Readied for some fur flight.

Didn’t dare say a thing

Until he was asking…

Why I seemed puzzled

I wasn’t muzzled,

Say, what in my mind was turning?

Generally he’s out waiting,

For reprimand I’m anticipating…

Thought that he

Had it in for me,

Thus my hesitating!

He thought maybe I was joking–

That’s his new spot for smoking…

Melting relief

No guillotine “brief”

Away with this worry uncloaking!

LIKE A COMMUTE ON INDIA’S RAILWAYS???

More hair-raising every year,

At least to this older guy…

Twenty-five miles

Of various trials,

He prays every trip and here’s why.

Summertime  heavy traffic,

Northbound is never static…

Construction zones–

Several tight ones–

Vehicle flow is erratic!

Each section needs different skills,

Mostly a matter of wills…

Drive forward hard

Give not a yard,

Take it high speed over hills!

He stays in the slow lane,

High speed isn’t his thing…

Gradual loss

For him is his cross,

But happy he is still driving!

–Jonathan Caswell

THE BEAUTY OF CHANGING LANES!

Like high=speed ballet,

Between lanes sashay…

Car and truck

With clever pluck,

To and through holes in the fray!

How they see what  they see,

Is a real mystery…

Seeing them swoop

Through two lanes to suit,

,Needing outside lane proximity!

Cars  and trucks going fast,

Confidence must last…

Until we obtain

Our exit lane

And then have to slow down fast!

WHAT’S FOR SUPPER–I DON’T KNOW!

Had BURGER KING for lunch,

Our “no pickle” Whoppers had crunch…

Chinese or Italian

Food I’ll rally on,

Maybe just cashews to munch!

Cashews are out in the car,

Praise be–that’s not too far…

Something to drink–

Diet soda, I think–

Although THAT won’t go very far!

SIMPLE BUT ELEGANT WAYS

Image : hapatime–STALKING STYLE WILL NEVER ENDS

Simple sheer-like pink and black,

Certainly have no lack…

Of modesty

And mystery,

Watching a woman flower!

Delicate pink satin top,

Pencil skirt can traffic stop…

At least guys’

Appreciative eyes,

Care less for how she is cropped.

Ladies see that it’s cool,

Stylish and makes men  school…

Pretty in pink

A  girl likes to think,

Professional-looking cool!
