A man sought to sail the canal,

But a gondolier seemed banal…

So he hoisted a sail

And was impaled

By the first bridge that wasn’t that tall.

Out of the hospital, he,

Tried to run his boat to the sea…

He got stuck in traffic,

Found the blockage and attacked,

Now he stays behind bars for free.

It rained and rained all night

I saw it in a street light…

Drops on the ground–

That pitter-patter sound

But the raincoat never fit right!

Last night took off with no jacket,

Rain on the roof made a racket….

‘Twas like the rain said

“Let’s go ahead,”

Saw my white shirt and attacked it.

The British insist an umbrella

Compliment the style of a fella…

In Great Britain agrees

Anyone well-prepared is stellar!

Today we’re scheduled for more,

Might even get a downpour….

Properly cloaked

I won’t be soaked

But ready and dry to my core!

(opinion, based upon church experience and church history)

When I was young, history,

Was very interesting to me…

My church went “social”

Losing its focal

Point as its doctrine went weak.

During my years as a youth,

The church focus went uncouth….

Asking missionaries

Insurgents to please,

While downplaying Gospel truth.

This “Liberation Gospel” style,

Took over Christ’s message a while…

In some churches still

They market this swill,

Repackaged for a new kind of trial.

Whereas Christ died to pay our sin debt

And resurrected as the new life we’ll get…

In “Liberation” He’s martyred

In revolutionary ardor,

And the idea of sin to forgive—Nyet!

My denomination remains nameless

And in some dark corners shameless….

Promotion was made

Of a “Gaia” god-maid,

Whose adherents used deception to “tame” us.

It was a major denomination,

Under an umbrella organization….

Whose leadership went slack

In ways hard to track,

But following political beliefs of the nation!

The Gospel being hijacked,

When the Bible as truth is attacked…

The church tries to gloss

Over the cross,

And the pendulum has to swing back.

(For time is short!)

In Cleveland, Ohio,

Three women and a child freed….

From ten years cooped up

In some form of slavery.

Discussed on radio last night,*

A psychologist suggested

That time be sought for them to debrief

Without being media-molested.

“His wife”** went through similar things,

Nearly ten years of fright…

She didn’t know when she’d be attacked:

It would be outside at night.

For her it was an older kin

That kept her in chains…

But when her family found out,

They took extra special pains…

To shut the thing up

And keep it extra quiet,

As though by that it would go away

Not causing an internal riot.

Years and years of hurt

And questions within herself…

Were left churning behind the mask,

Left throbbing on a shelf;

Not til she could leave home

Would the knot inside unravel,

Getting far away from the place

With threatened midnight travel.

The hurt and fear remain

And she’s tried to reconcile,

Being tortured for those ten long years

With a life that now brings a smile.

If there is introspection

To figure out their delayed lives,

These precious ones need protection…

And resolution like his wife’s.
