FALLING TEMPERATURES
–
Autumn’s falling temperatures,
Especially at night…
Someday soon will then surprise
With frost at morning light.

My parents were prepared
For an early frost forecast…
They kept old bed sheets on hand
To shield from a wintery blast.
–
Spreading the sheet over garden plants
Gave protection the most…
Then when harvest ended
One could masquerade as a ghost!

LITTLE BIRDS DO IT AGAIN…AND AGAIN…!
–
Those little birds’ family urging,
Mays way for multiple merging…
Two or three per season
For gene line increasin’
Making survival encouraging.
–
One nest I observed regularly,
Did two broods that season–nearly three–
The third brood lost
With early frost,
But two brood matured completely!
–
Little birds sure get down,
Their energy does really astound…
Two batches, nearly three,
Brought to maturity,
Their summer of love covers ground!!!!
