AT THE APPLES AGAIN!

AT THE APPLES AGAIN!

Driving in to work today

I glanced at trees by the highway…..

Some geese were there

Enjoying the air,

Had they munched on those apples all day?

The apples had fallen aground,

The geese seemed happy they found…

This new food source

Which I’d endorse,

Their method of recycling was sound.

If some apples were in vinegar prep.,

The geese will have a “hic” in their step…

Don’t be a goose chider

If the mash turns to cider,

The poor birds need SOMETHING for pep!

The Momma goose with the broken wing,

Couldn’t fly, so missed the whole thing…

The gate was closed

As one supposed,

The day after Thanksgiving.

FALLEN APPLE CUISINE

FALLEN APPLE CUISINE

I watched a family gather

The apples under a tree…

At my Pastor’s house I wondered

If that would do for me.

One wouldn’t eat them straight off the ground,

But want to wash them first…

Sweet cider would be nice around

For an overwhelming thirst.

Pies made with some crabapple

Are sweet with just enough tart…

My mother’s pie crust would hold it quite well,

For her, pie crust was an art.

This year, only the geese indulge

In fallen apples by the road…

For them it is an annual ritual,

Traveling energy being stowed!
