THAT PEANUT BUTTER PLOP

THAT PEANUT BUTTER PLOP

Two balls of peanut butter went plop

(Coordination must be in the shop)…

They fell off the bread

To the desk instead,

Was fearful that they wouldn’t stop.

One nicked the computer keyboard,

The other merely on the bag scored…

With peanutty smear

I’ve got a mess here,

My relief…at messes…has roared.

I’ve eaten the sandwich–nearly all–

Sticking back on the bread an errant ball…

Bread crumbs I can sweep

As neatness I’ll keep,

Sure glad on the floor it didn’t fall!

CHRISTMAS FAERIES

CHRISTMAS FAERIES

Although well-intentioned,

Faeries are seldom mentioned…

In Christmas lore,

Were they, before,

Christians started intervention?

A winter solstice concluded,

Were they consulted by the Druids?

To fertilize frozen

Land and folks chosen

To produce bumper crops when denuded?

The chance to be erotic is there

Inside, away from cold air…

But most today

Will get away

With a colored drawing fair.

It must have been a fright

To lose more and more sunlight…

With excited queries

Unto the faeries,

“Would this year turn out all right?”
