EATING DIFFERENTLY

EATING DIFFERENTLY

While people morn, this life must go on,

Tony brought me humus and crackers to feast upon…

Chickpeas ground with garlic

Is supper tonight,

Have a head of broccoli

For a going-home snack just right…

Eating healthy

Will help me feel okay,

Thank you, Lord, for Tony

And friends to show the way!

WHAT IS OUT THERE???

WHAT IS OUT THERE???

The mind of a child is happy and gay,

While his wants to slink away…

Inspirational void

With no prospects toyed,

He’s reluctant to join in the fray.

A sense of wonder is gone,

No anticipation at dawn….

Of what’s out there,

The wonders to share

And to see them before they have gone.

Is life suddenly boring,

Has the poet lost a good mooring…

Being swept out to sea

With no poetry,

To comfort while he’s in mourning.

COMMON CAUSE

COMMON CAUSE

A number of my friends

Are mired in grief…

A close relative,

Who is tested in belief.

The latest one a colleague

Whose son just died…

She hugged me before she left,

His arrangements to decide.

Times like these we want to ease

Suffering amidst life’s pause…

Put aside different opinion

And comfort in a common cause.

POTENTIAL PUSSY (CAT)

POTENTIAL  PUSSY (CAT):

We’re looking for our kitty cat,

Our old one’s dead and gone…

We’ve had three months to grieve and heal

And it’s time for moving on.

We identified a shelter

That may have whom we need…

A couple of cats sounded interesting,

But nothing’s yet guaranteed.

We don’t have our house anymore

But live in an apartment complex…

We’re only allowed one kitty cat,

In our home of either sex.

This cat must be spayed or neutered,

Something we’ve near always done…

Except for our “Jessie”

Who ran off before he became one.

We’ve agreed on a ginger tabby,

Or a black-and-white, we don’t care…

As long as they accept our  loving

The Lord will lead us to who’s there.

If weather and finances jive

The wife and I…

Will visit the kitty cat shelter ourselves

And pick out our blessing undisguised!
