The old-time poet towers

Over we with lesser powers…

Taking days

To turn a phrase,

That heritage on us showers.

–

Rhyme schemes with two or three points

Of focus their greatness anoints…

My simple schtick

With limerick,

Is good in the seedier of joints.

–

Not that I don’t have class,

But in poetic fame, they’ve way past…

Old books in stores

That have seen two, three wars,

Will be all our fates at the last!
