“THE OLD SWITCHEROO”

The good old switcheroo,

A thing that horse thieves may do…

But this is mental–

Take a “New York Central”

Switch the shell for “New Haven” to view!

Knuckle couplers are on this chassis,

Can’t think of much more classy…

My New England road

Another RS-3* is owed,

This orange-and-black now has he?

–Jonathan Caswell

Another RS-3*…a road switcher locomotive model produced by the American Locomotive Company up until the early 1960’s.

A “ONE TRAIN TRACK” MIND :D

He begs pardon being one-minded,

Perhaps it’s time he’s resigned…

To stick with his stuff

Of which there’s enough,

To run the main “triple-line-ed!

PLEASE NOTE:  The illustration used (from Google) is of an O Scale model layout…not N scale, at mine is!

TALKIN’ ‘BOUT THE OLD DAYS!

Ken and I were talking,

Along came Ron A. walking…

Listening in

How N Scale began,

While two “old heads” were talking!

The early days were rough,

American–very few stuff…

Some ran

To beat the band,

And some ran very rough!

Ken’s brother had N scale,

Imagining “New Haven” rails…

Choices he made

In what track was laid,

And I could join in on the tale.

My experience came to the fore,

Early N scale was a chore…

Limited lines

And imaginative minds,

Made what worked into more!

GOOGLE IMAGES—A “Postage Stamp” train set seen on Ebay, similar to my first train set…about 1970-?  Sold by Minitrix…the little engine was a European styled 0-6-0-T steam engine that ran really good!!!  The train cars were of American design.  🙂

WAITING FOR THE WAGON

WAITING FOR THE WAGON

The Wells Fargo wagon

In the musical, MUSIC MAN…

Brought anticipation

For every boy and man.

Raisins from Fresno

Or maybe cross-cut saw…

Instruments for the Professor,

Deliveries met with awe.

I’m awaiting delivery

Of a very special gift…

For myself (the wife okayed)

To my attitude lift.

Other things have come

From other companies…

But it hasn’t yet arrived

And I am in the lees.

An ALCO S-2, in N scale,

From a good company…

It hasn’t come while other things

Have come already!

I wanted one with zebra stripes

Looking close to the one we had…

At our railroad museum

‘Though the colors are off a tad.

My model passenger station

Is painted like that one then…

I’d love to run a tourist train,

Even if it is scaled “N”.

So I’m waiting for my package,

I’ll check if the bill’s been paid…

It sure would be disappointing

Given all the dreams I’ve laid!

RED HEAD RUNNING TRAINS

RED HEAD RUNNING TRAINS

Stewart Junction

(GOOGLE IMAGES)

Been looking for this image so long,

Losing it affected me “strong”…

She’s a gingered girl

Giving model trains a whirl,

So glad I found her ere long!

RE-ENGINEERING DREAMS

RE-ENGINEERING DREAMS

Got thinking last night while wide awake,

About fulfilling of dreams…

Sometimes it is strange the paths we take

In engineering schemes.

I have a bedside train set,

That doesn’t run a bit…

I spend time working on the track

And want to then change it!

Shifting buildings, track and trains,

Not making the thing run…

Makes me wonder about the pains

It takes to get something done.

Now…POETRY…is not the same,

It springs at times like weeds…

It doesn’t take a technical brain

To satisfy one’s needs.

I’ll keep working on the trains,

Some day I’ll see the light….

Of a running train at last

Before I say, “good night”.

A YOUTUBE EXPERIENCE

A YOU-TUBE EXPERIENCE

I changed to watching YouTube,

A break from blogging, dude…

This model railroad

Construction film showed,

A creative great attitude.

By classical music and jazz,

He’s working with friends that he has…

To his design,

A definite sign

That modeling’s an enjoyable task.

His wife got in the show,

Being an asset who knows…

How to please her man

Doing what she can

To help the railroad grow.

Its inspiration’s Canadian,

And the building is circadian…

Fifteen feet of track every day,

Nine film parts, by the way,

He’s built a fine model train stadium!
