THIS HAS TO BE IN FLORIDA!

Bikini-bound on a trestle,

A train of thought to willingly wrestle..

Let no mosquitoes

Take her for burritos,

All that skin makes her very digestible!

CUISINE CAPERS!

CUISINE CAPERS

THREE beef and bean burritos,

Won’t scare away all the mosquitoes…

You’d better run

‘Cause I hear some

Thing revving up like magnetos!

His wife takes anti-gas now,

Their apartment smells less like a cow…

Both eating beans

The apartment steams,

Is all the air freshener down?

THE MUNCHY-CRUNCHY MOSQUITO

THE MUNCHY-CRUNCHY MOSQUITO

The munchy-crunchy mosquito

Serves as delicious burrito…

To swallows that fly

Their mouths open wide,

Consuming mosquitoes per kilo!

We here in northern climes

Mosquitoes appear in times…

Of sudden protein

(They’re eaten, we mean)

By birds at nesting time.

Using every pond and puddle,

Fish find the larvae no trouble…

A few we swat

The rest they got,

Seeing them perched on a bubble.

Mosquitoes to us are a  pain,

To animals, in their food chain…

Too small for us

To make any fuss,

God’s creation has more than one aim!

THE SHADY SPOT

THE SHADY SPOT

He parked his car in the shade,

Reminded him of forest glade…

On land

He once had in hand,

So recently sold away.

So peaceful was it there

With pine-cone scented air….

Princess pine,

Oak leaves to recline

On to mosquitoes share!

Walking through the wood

For years did him good…

Sandy soil,

Healing oil

That softened a hard life’s flood.

Manage it he tried

Until the dream died…

Couldn’t afford

The room and board,

Can’t make the taxes, they cried.

Eight years beyond getting out,

Their broker gave a shout…

The place’s sold,

That woodland gold–

They were officially “without”.

He parked in this shady place,

Lit up from the smile on his face….

Reminding of

Their time of love

And working that wonderful space.

WHAT GOES WITH MOSQUITOES?

WHAT GOES WITH MOSQUITOES?

Those doggone, pesky mosquitoes,

Do they fit environmental credoes…

Malaria comes

Because of those bums,

The bloodsuckers drill through a Speedo!

On the tundra, fifty percent,

Of life–without mosquitoes–will have went…

They make easy food

With a good attitude,

Of major consequence.

Reindeer migration routes

Affected by mosquito soups…

Avoiding the buzz

Important because

Places need time to recoup.

Mosquitoes clean dirty water

Then feed fish and bugs as they oughter…

Many birds eat them too,

And “swallow” a few*

On the wing near the surface of water.

Females go after the blood,

To nourish their eggs in the flood…

Males in the sector

Survive on nectar,

For which pollination is good.

–Jonathan Caswell

* swallows…are one of the several bird types that eat mosquitoes “on the fly”–while flying.

SWIFT SWALLOW SWOOPING

SWIFT SWALLOW SWOOPING

Swift swallows swooping over the duck pond,

Swallowing mosquitoes with every pass there on…

Aren’t you glad mosquitoes don’t know until they’re dead

That swallows are coming who want to be fed!

Makes things easier when insects do not feel,

Fear or anxiety when they are a meal….

Unlike we humans with adrenaline needs

Insects are ready for when swallows feed.
