MAKING TIME FOR NEIGHBORS

MAKING TIME FOR NEIGHBORS

It’s good to make time for neighbors,
A rest from all your labors…
Working with them
Refreshes again,
Good to pay off favors!

Sit and talk in the laundry,
About other neighbors and sundry…
Appreciate them
Before the end,
It will happen…one day!

Why live alone like a hermit?
You don’t—even you—deserve it…
Companions rare–
Enjoy who’s there–
Being friendly with neighbors: a merit.

CAUGHT HER DRIFT!

CAUGHT HER DRIFT!

“It’s so BEAUTIFUL…” she yelled,

On a break from scraping window ice…

Her car buried in a snow drift

But thought the crystal trees looked nice.

She or somebody wished out loud’

I really wasn’t that near…

That she had a camera

To take a picture “out here.”

She tried to kneel on the hood

To reach the other side of the car…

Her leg kept slipping off,

From that angle she couldn’t reach far.

We neighbors helped her dig

Out her vehicle from…

The drift it nosed into,

Our artistically minded chum!

UNFRAMED BUT VALUED

UNFRAMED….BUT VALUED

A “thank you” hangs on my wall,

From a neighbor thankful for all…

Of a poet’s kindness

Her dog to address,

A worthy addition to our hall.

Her handwriting is just fine,

A bigger sight finer than mine…

No need for cards,

Sensitive bards

Are happy to be kept in mind!
