PREPARED STATEMENTS

PREPARED STATEMENTS

Today I took some poetry

To use at my counseling session…

As a guide to what was going on with me

And stuff I might forget to mention.

Many of us write from inner pain

But using the “third person”…

Easier than to restrain

An unauthorised published version!

LIMERICKS EXPLAINED

LIMERICKS EXPLAINED

The gist of a poetic stand

Is how to create and expand…

Within certain rules

Significant jewels,

According to personal demand.

A limerick is a one-stanza quip

Designed to give readers the slip…

Understanding

Gets a zing

When meaning starts to strip!

The limerick, for those with no clue,

Is something poets will do…

A literature device

Of doggerel precise,

That has a kick to it, too!

I’m glad that Mensa opened

The door to we “dullards” hoping…

In THE PENTATETTE*

Publication to get,

For its world-wide audience groping.

–Jonathan Caswell

*THE PENTATETTE, is the Limerick Special Interest Group’s newsletter, open to everyone.  See www.pentatette.com, for details.  Mensa is the society for high Intelligence Quotient individuals.  THE PENTATETTE is one of their special projects open to those of average intelligence….like me!  This author wrote and was published by them for several years in a row while sharpening his craft. 🙂  To quote their literature, PENTATETTE limericks are both “bawdy” and nice!  Be warned….!
