BREAD DAY

BREAD DAY

Tuesday—Bread Day–from the Food Pantry,

Gathering people for the food for free…

Bread and pastries, vegetables sometimes

Hard-put to make it–except for folks so kind.

Local church gathers day-old bread

And what seconds that the stores shed…

Compassion recycles food to those in need,

Christian strength in spirit and in deed!

MULTIPLE TIME PERIODS

MULTIPLE TIME PERIODS

During his train buying spree,

He split into eras, two or three…

Steam, diesel-electric,

Both selected

Not just for tourism–you’ll see!

With all the wonder transpired,

His layout hasn’t been wired…

With this good stuff

Someone called his bluff,

Hot coals underneath him were fired.

Abrasives, bread and coal,

Join plastics, soda , on the roll…

Water treatment too

And textiles run through,

To keep his N scale trains full.

Alternative energy

From woodchips, fly ash, groceries…

Vie with tourist trains

For space on the main,

But the branch line is pure fantasy!

AT THE APPLES AGAIN!

AT THE APPLES AGAIN!

Driving in to work today

I glanced at trees by the highway…..

Some geese were there

Enjoying the air,

Had they munched on those apples all day?

The apples had fallen aground,

The geese seemed happy they found…

This new food source

Which I’d endorse,

Their method of recycling was sound.

If some apples were in vinegar prep.,

The geese will have a “hic” in their step…

Don’t be a goose chider

If the mash turns to cider,

The poor birds need SOMETHING for pep!

The Momma goose with the broken wing,

Couldn’t fly, so missed the whole thing…

The gate was closed

As one supposed,

The day after Thanksgiving.

HIS MANTLE—DISMANTLED

HIS MANTLE—DISMANTLED

A lot of equipment stored,

Is going by the board…

What will be kept

And not dissect,

And can the company this afford?

The insides are being dismantled,

Deluxe water treatment cancelled…

What to do with tanks,

Machines and banks

Of electrical switches unmanacled?

Good equipment can be sold,

Other stuff is really too old…

Into the dumpster

Recycled and done, sir,

Into bed frames, I’m told.

SPRING CLEANING THE BACK SEAT

SPRING CLEANING THE BACK SEAT

In the back seat of his car,

It’s built up for two months so far…

Bottles and trash

Not turned into cash,

Munchie wrappers strewn and bizarre.

His wife says it is time for cleaning,

She insists he repeats this with meaning…

Winter is at bay,

Let’s clean this today

Before the food wrappers start greening!
