THREE WEST—#12

THREE WEST #12

I’m starting a new series…backwards!  THAT IS…when it is read, it will be in proper order.

The series is poetry about  time spent in a mental health “lock-down” facility.  Any ressemblance to real life is purely intentional…some names have been changed or modified to Protect The poet!  🙂

EPISODE #12:

IT IS THE END OF HIS TIME IN LOCK-UP!

“LEAFING”

(A Haiku)

Growing tree branch,

Shed leaves healing nations…*

They go from THREE WEST..out!

–J.E.C.

  • .*..leaves for healing…see The Book of the Revelation 22: 1-2
  • FADING FAST
  • (NOT a haiku!)
  • Quick as the morning’s mist,
  • Memory faded fast…
  • Kie a dream from which we awake
  • Some experiences don’t last.
  • Names of persons encountered,
  • Were lost in misty mind fog…
  • Acts iof mmortal kindness
  • Are kept in Heaven’s log.
  • To his friends of that short time
  • Whose names are fading fast…
  • Remember me however you can,
  • Till the final lot is cast!

DRIVING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND

DRIVING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND

(Sorry–not to that tune!)

Woke up to find it was snowing,

With somewhere for me to be going…

Worried that the roads

Were icier goads

To a panic suddenly growing.

I had to remember

It was not my first December…

But that I had dwelt

In many a snow belt,

Of that club I was a member!

Can’t help what you’re feeling inside,

For proof one must take a ride…

Past the driveway, was wet,

As safe as one gets–

Better than many roads I have tried.

The hills handled with no fuss,

Most were the route of a school bus…

Those routes, I have found

Are really quite sound

For those extra careful like us!

What causes momentary fear?

Slips and crashes of yesteryear…

The first couple of storms

Panic warms,

Until confidence reappears.

In avoiding pushing up daisies,

One prays to avoid the crazies…

Who drive full-tilt

Driving well-built

Monsters through atmospheres hazy.

I pray my way down hills,

Where I lost control many spills…

My biggest clunk

Took a big chunk

Of a fiance’s view of good will.

Learn to trust your town’s sander,

Driving carefully through God’s splendor…

It’s a wonderland

When the roads have sand

And salt to make driving grander!

COME TO EDAVILLE

COME TO EDAVILLE

(Tune of” “Christmas is Coming”)

Come back to EDAVILLE,

Before it’s all closed down…

How will the kids remember

When it’s not around.

If you haven’t got a train set,

A train picture will do…

If you don’t have a train picture…

EDAVILLE IS THROUGH!

They’re selling the property

For ten million bucks,

If we had the moula*

We’d buy some railroad trucks…

If you haven’t got the moula*

An old postcard will do…

If you haven’t got an old postcard,

EDAVILLE IS THROUGH!

In this Christmas season

Trains are running late,

If you don’t get down to ride

It will be too late…

If you can’t get a train ride

The carousel will do,

If you can’t ride something…

EDAVILLE IS THROUGH.

NOTE:  *moula is slang…for money!
