HANG LOOSE—ALTHOUGH FRIGID

HANG LOOSE—ALTHOUGH FRIGID

Overnight temps in the “teens”

…That’s what this winter means…

But we don’t mind

If people are kind

Enough to feed us our “beans”*

We like our coats with fur

And car heaters that purr…

Blowers that blow

Our windows of snow,

And appreciative sounds when we “Brrrrrrrrr!”

–Jonathan Caswell

* “beans”…a slang term for dinner, not necessarily baked or fried beans only.

SNOW EQUIPMENT…NOW!

SNOW EQUIPMENT…NOW!

On my rounds, a snow blower part,

That industrial piece of art…

Is being readied now,

As is the plow

For the future when snow flurries start.

Like my Mom used to get Christmas cards

On sale, at “Spag’s,” by the yards…

Prices for less

Than travel time* I guess:

Eight-to-ten hours was far!

Equipment will get cleaned and oiled,

And readied for when autumn’s spoiled….

By a heavy snow

Or ice, don’t you know,

Our Indian summer foiled.
