WE JUST DRIVE PAST…

WE JUST DRIVE PAST…!

Missing those wonderful summers,

Of strolling around the woods…

Mosquitoes in air meet us there

And shortly get the goods!

How often do we stop and examine

A roadside monument…

We drive rignt past with exhaust blast,

We came as quick as we went.

In stop-and-go traffic,

They’re grinding, repaving roads…

Details of a “Jersey Barrier”

Interest me as traffic slows.

SUDDENLY…HAIKU

SUDDENLY…HAIKU

Unused salty brine,

Unexpected snow and rain…

Uphill traffic jams.

Winter faeries dance,

Overnight blizzards dump snow…

Plowmen cross themselves.

Out of mist a girl,

Brightening eyes of a man…

Warm thought–cold shoulder!

Near birds twittering,

Hungry hawks circling slowly…

Hiding resources.
