LITTLE SPARROW

LITTLE SPARROW

It hunkered down on the driveway,

I walked by–it wasn’t afraid…

Going to sup

My friend picked it up

And set it down in the shade.

You think me heartless ’cause I

Would have left it to die…

Perhaps that is so

If it was time to go,’

But my friend took it in—what a guy!!!!

PEANUTS, ANYONE?

PEANUTS, ANYONE?

Old boxes accumulate fast,

From mail order warehouses vast…

Foam peanuts will

End in landfills,

Where birds eat them as their last.

IT’S COME TO THIS:

IT’S COME TO THIS:

Night supervisor saw a sight,

Called me to see if ’twas right…

A dog and a man

Chasing geese as planned,

Into escape and flight.

“No more Mr. Nice Guy,”

As with a German Shepherd they try…

Evacuating troops

Of geese  and their poops,

While continuing to harass the lawn-care guys.

Not all of us want to see them go,

But Corporate’s decided to not show…

Any mercy for wildlife

That causes any strife,

A World Headquarters must be nice, you know!

CORPORATE SIGNS OF WINTER

CORPORATE SIGNS OF WINTER

One knows when all flowers are gone,

Snow soon may cover the lawn…

Canopy sideboards

Cover the walk toward

Employee entrances quick-drawn.

An entrance heating blower

Assaults ears with its roar…

As weather turns cool

The fashionable coo,

At new stuff they take from the drawer.

Most geese are flying in vees,

And different birds tweet in trees…

Birdseed supplies

Look for winter skies,

And the pond fountain’s ready to leave.

ROOSTER TAILS

ROOSTER TAILS

(just silly)

Rooster tails at two AM,

Watering the lawn…

Sections done, every one

Before the break of dawn.

Bunnies put on shower caps,

Mice run for cover…

Shampoo sales go up at night

Among wildlife who bother.

Driving up the driveway

At two AM…

Shower parties all around,

Among our animal friends!

MOVING IN??

MOVING IN??

A skunk has taken up residence

Under the water hose spool…

A man went to water the flowers,

And found the skunk where it was cool.

It wandered near our door last night,

Gave several people a scare…

I was surprised this afternoon

To find the skunk still there.

The guy who surprised the once-sleeping skunk

Apparently got a spritz…

The skunk had poor aim when still half-asleep,

The fellow was barely missed.  🙂

We heard of sleeping dogs and bears

And the dangers of waking up same…

A skunk taking up residence here

Certainly adds to our fame!
