FIRST STORM DRIVE

FIRST STORM DRIVE

I know how West Virginians felt after Sandy,

Before starting out I felt randy…

Nervous of this time,

An ice-and snow climb,

When rain froze, would be a real dandy!

Starting out it was almost pretty,

Main Street was wet and gritty…

One Forty-Six North

We all sallied forth,

It really slowed down near the city!

Bumper-to-bumper, three lanes,

The weaving ones trying to make gains…

The only one moving

Was the “fast” lane, behooving

My moving into that lane.

Overall it took two hours, plus,

Normally forty minutes, no fuss…

With most of the time

Within city lines,

Going home will see a frozen crust!
